What is the reason for this differentiation?

  • @prestonb4295

@@jeremywheeler2122 one rescuer takes time to switch between compressions and ventilations. Double rescuer is almost an instantaneous switch. To account for that loss of time a single rescuer needs to do more compressions at once.

@@prestonb4295 thanks. I actually learned that two weeks ago when I took a BSL course at the Red Cross.

For infant no need to tilt the head for airways

Sooooooo wrong wtf. They have a proportionally bigger head and must be angled back. Normally you put a pediatric CPR cushion or a towel.

You have to hold the top/back of the head with one hand and tilt the chin back if you're doing rescue breaths. 1. 0-2 year old, index and middle fingers, do 30 compressions about 3.5cm (1.5 inch) deep (no one uses a ruler or measuring tape lol so just don't push too soft, then give two breaths covering the nose and mouth of the baby. 2. Older than 2 years old. So two things here, (a) 2 -12 years old, use your dominant hand for compressions. 1 hand. (b) place one hand on the middle of the chest, do 30 compressions about 5cm (2 inch) and two breaths. During my training, I was told for years 2-12 you can use one or two hands for compression, but for 12 years and older, use both hands. Hand placement: Place your hand palm down in the middle of the chest, and place the other above that hand. Hope it helps. Please do correct me if I'm wrong, but only if you're adequately educated in this field.

You should err on the side of tachy for infants because their hearts best way faster than any age group. A newborn needs CPR if their heart rate is under 60

No, always 30:2 for everyone with one rescuer, and 15:2 of there's two or more rescuers to help out. Same with the rate of compressions a minute (100-120), the only difference is the frequency of breaths. Adults are 1 breath every 6 seconds and infants are 1 breath every 2-3 seconds for if they're not breathing but there's a pulse
