Such a treat---great video. I was lucky to have a Dad who took me to races. We saw AJ, Parnelli, Mario and the rest racing on dirt, road courses and at the Speedway of course. I was just 17 years old but I'll never forget it. RIP pop.

I met AJ changing into his driving suit in the mens's room under the grandstands at Flemington. NJ when they ran the midgets on the old horse track during the days and early evening ( circa 1960 ) !! Might just have been one of those ! I used to climb one of the elms in turn one to watch. Don't remember who lost a RF wheel assembly entering the turn but it hit the low wood rail cleared the cyclone fence and hit that tree trunk above me bounced back onto the race track, across and hit the cyclone fence on the infield side ! I remember looking up at two parallel cuts on the trunk from the rim.!

A.J. Foyt is arguably the greatest race driver ever - an absolute virtuoso behind the wheel of a race car !

Robin and Marshall,Any chance you could tour the museum with AJ himself? Spend like an hour with him letting him tell the story of each car. It would be a recorded treasure for centuries. thanks

Absolutely great series of videos. Thank you for putting these together. I'm not in the financial position to make the cross-country trek to IMS this year, but this is the next best thing.

Wasn't it Parnelli Jones bragging on Jan Opperman that goaded A.J. in 1974?

They drove with more respect for each other unlike some of these children that are allowed to race today. I remember when you had to be 21 to race with USAC. When roll cages were made mandatory many thought it would make some drivers too brave.
