Industrial Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the process of designing work areas to be user friendly by using tools and equipment to reduce strain and/or repetitive motions and teaching employees proper work methods, correct posture and safe lifting techniques. This training video will discuss those industrial work-related factors that pose a risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) and recommendations to alleviate them. This video explains the background behind ergonomics in industry as well as ways to better prevent these injuries. Organization is layout very well and titles before sections made it simple to find the correct sections. Visuals and examples provide good support for the information. Good to see points made regarding the cost benefit to correcting these risks and also the emphasis on being proactive before someone is injured. The tips for reducing or eliminating these risks could be very helpful. There is a lot of good information and a relatively compact video. Overall a very effective and educational video!

Just to let you know engineering controls are NOT the first line of controls in the hierarchy. The hierarchy is: 1. Elimination 2. Substitution 3. Engineering Controls 4. Administrative 5 PPE
