INDUSTAR 50-2 50mm f/3.5 | 5 Reasons Why You Should Own this Vintage Soviet Full-frame Lens

In this video I talk about the Industar 50-2, 50mm f/3.5.
It's an extremely popular vintage soviet lens from 60 years ago, made in the millions. Despite it's many flaws it's a joy to use, it's stupidly cheap, easy to find and most importantly, it makes really good images.
I talk about five reasons why you should definetly own a copy and four reasons why you should perhaps think twice before getting one.

A man sitting in nature talking to us all through a camera sharing his thoughts embracing his own self the good and the not so good, not trying to have the perfect english , just being himself , no colorful video simple black and white video and asking us to embrace the pros and cons of the lens ,the joy of using which he has experienced himself.... what an wholesome video! Subbed!

Firstly sir, your English is really great, and this video is a gem, please do more! This lens is on my first camera that I bought when I was 13 in 1958. When I was 15, I won a photographic competition using this camera and lens, printing it myself in my makeshift darkroom. It was a picture of three farm workers cycling to work in the early morning mist. The film was Ilford Fp3. Very atmospheric. It is a Zenith C single lens reflex camera with a m39 mount. My version is aluminium with great lens coatings. I still have it and I am 76 now. Alas the shutter curtains have pinholes now. I might get an adapter and use it on a digital camera, for old times sake.

I just found your channel. Amazing, you need more subscribers, and videos in the format you make are great - it's what KZread is missing. LONG reviews for lens reviews. So many make videos that are about 4-5mins long and it's not long enough. I'm enjoying the video. Good luck for the future, and thousands more subs!

... and remember: it takes time for a KZread channel to grow, so keep going and be patient even if you don't get thousands of subscribers in a short time (especially for such a niche theme like vintage lenses) and always post on FB about new videos from you. I wish you all the best. Greetings from Italy.

Hello Radu! I'm a new subscriber & it is this video, your review of the Industar 50-2, that hooked me. It is easy to see your honesty & passion. This is the best review of this lens that I have seen. I must say that I love my Industar 50-2, as it has such an interesting character & it was the first Soviet lens in my collection. This lens is always in my camera bag, as it always fits. I'm sure I'm not the first to mention this, but I will ask anyway. Please tell us what beer you are drinking & what you think of the beer. We don't need a full review, but it would be nice to know what you are drinking & your thoughts on the taste. I think that it would be an interesting addition to your videos, as you are are usually drinking a beer. Please keep producing these great videos. I enjoy the way you do your reviews & I enjoy hearing your point of view. I may not always agree with you (i.e. Helios 44-2), but I do appreciate your opinion. I'll be sure to share some of your videos on Facebook. Noroc 🍺, Chris

This was such a joy to read! Thank you. It's funny you mentioned I should say a few words about the beer, because I've been thinking about doing something like this. I will keep this in mind and see what comes out of it. At one point I even considered starting a beer review channel, but sadly I have entirely too little time for that. Thank you again for your kind words. Sănătate!

Hi Radu, first of all I want to thank you for your very nice videos. The way you make these is unique. Just after the revolution I went to Romania a few times with relief supplies. I took my most beautiful portrait photos there. I have been working digitally for a few years now. I found out that my photos were missing something... they were too sharp and all photos were the same. I then started using Russian lenses, now I have a reasonable collection. These have a visual language that I love. My most beautiful lens is the Zenitar-M1.7/50mm, then the Jupiter 9 and the Tair 11a. I got rid of all my radioactive lenses because I didn't feel good about them. After seeing this video I also bought a 1958 Industar 50. Glad I discovered your channel, God bless you 😘
