Another great analysis and presentation what struck me was the lack of grab rails on the coach house and below decks these yachts are more like apartments on the water all the lounging areas on deck not much use crossing the Atlantic in a bit of a blow . Beginning to wonder are there no small boats being built for the person starting to sail like in the 1970s just a thought.

The owners of super yachts use these them at anchor or for perfect weather day sails. They don't care about the crew who is earning a poverty wage.

Like burddog said. The actual owners of these superyachts rarely ever use them except when they're at anchor or in a marina, to host important guests or show off their wealth to people. The crew is charged with making sure the boat is docked somewhere by the time the owner arrives on their private jet. And waiting on them hand and foot when they do. That's why in many superyachts the galley is in the crew quarters

I struggle to understand the concept of a yacht like this. The same yacht at 60-90' for cruising from port to port in the Med with a family and doing the occasional club race makes sense. But to have a 111' yacht that is nonetheless entirely unsuited to doing any kind of serious crossing/passage making in any kind of security/comfort is odd. Ferrari doesn't make sports cars the size of semi trucks, though they'd certainly be beautiful.

If you don’t like having crew around, get a smaller boat and you don’t have to! That is what these rich owners don’t get, the joy of sailing/cruising comes from sharing it with loved ones, not from prancing around in fancy boats. That is why they need to upgrade their toys so often. If 72ft of expensive boat doesn’t satisfy you, 110ft won’t either.

  • @britskaradiometeorograph8108

The answer is that for most of the journey you don't need anyone at the wheel. With self tacking jibs, electric main sheet winch, and autopilot, you can sit in the comfort of the cabin and make any course adjustments you need while underway. The only times you absolutely need someone at the helm is when you're close to a harbour, close to the coast, it close to a shipping lane.

There are a ton of systems that need attention. Docking a boat that big requires at least 3 people on deck and preferably 4 or 5. Cooking and cleaning for a boat that size is a lot of work if you don't want the boat to deteriorate. When you buy a boat this big you can afford to pay other people (who earn decent money) to do the things that allow you to enjoy the boat.

What is with all these boats that have no covering, awnings, or sheltered wheel houses. You're completely exposed to the elements and big crashing waves. You can only really practically use this on extremely nice/clam days, which is very few if you plan to travel a lot or across oceans. It seems like a waste of money to me. Bad design in my opinion. Each to their own though. You wouldn't catch me on that thing. Other than that, nice boat.

So this is how rich people have fun and show off between each other? The project has one drawback, which is probably crucial for the yacht's guests, because it makes their trip so pleasant. I think they just enjoy it when people feel uncomfortable and that's why the owner of the yacht organized a shared toilet for his crew next to their own cabins. He probably thinks he is a genius at organizing a good environment that motivates them to work more efficiently, i.e. even greater servility. Moreover, a vacation on such a yacht can motivate guests to get even more out of people in the future too. In my opinion, it is enough to move the toilet for the crew next to the washing machine, but I am afraid that the yacht owner will not like this idea at all. It's just looks like he want to prove that it's possible to achieve happiness by tormenting and abusing people in a sophisticated way. He's good at it. After all, it's just a small flaw in the yacht's design and who would even care about the crew's comfort? Just enjoy me dear friends the direction and place you are sailing to on my yacht.
