They are already planning to move the capital I think. It will be expensive and disruptive but will benefit them in the long run. Maybe they will draw some inspiration from Chandigarh or Amaravati.......make it similar to Singapore.

@@death_parade why they want to shift the capital it is already developed soo much In my opinion it's not sinking, the soil under this city is consolidating (consolidation is a slow process occurs in clay type soils. In this process the pour water gets squeezed out due to external static loads like buildings,lowering of ground water etc.,) both External loads and ground water lowering happening in jakarta. So by knowing the final settlement of the soil by conducting test they has to fill that reduced level by soil to maintain above sea level before it's going to sink or otherwise reduce the usage ground water so it slows down consolidation process.
