We’re Indonesian eat a box martabak for a whole family, then my husband (american) eat the whole martabak for him self. He tries so many martabak as he can, now he’s a martabak expert. 😂😂 Ps. now that martabak is making around in US, as an Indonesian, I had to warn you guys; do not eat martabak so often. there's unspoken rules here about how many times you can eat it; either once a week or once per three days. just so you don't gain weight, more cholesterol or high blood sugar. as you can see, as good as it is, they're not healthy food. it's a comfort food and late night-kind of snack to eat with a family in here. it's also meant to be eaten with at least two people, it's why one portion is big. I saw the special margarine from Indonesia! it's called "Blueband" in here. it's definitely OG Indonesian's martabak they made. not just a sad excuse of replication.

As much as I love martabak, it is something that I only buy when I was with a group of friends or family. The sweet varieties are real calories bomb and can be too much in large portion. I personally loves the savory version more, but as a treat from time to time? The classic chocolate+nuts+cheese is the way to go 🤤

The sauce for the deep fry martabak which called “martabak telor” egg martabak is like spicy black vinegar and usually in indonesia they use some pickles too like cucumber, small chilli green pepper and red onion.. delicious.. some of them also use duck egg which is really tasty and smells good.. fyi, they usually also put some mince meats like beef or chicken meat and that’s also make the egg martabak more delicious

As I saw in this vid, the savory one has been additional toppings using cheese + corns on the top which is thats brilliant, surely it would add the taste become more fantastic on its 1st bite. For the sweet martabak, the thickness of the bread was too thin than the original in our country. And gladly the chef has tried new variant of red velvet flavor. As an Indonesian, I would love to try it someday. Thanks for the reviews & brought the Indonesia cuisine vibes. I’m Indonesian and now living in China. I miss this food. One of my favorite.

The Indo street food is amazing. There are tons of variety to explore. Savory, sweet, spicy and sour. Indo people love snack, that why so many variety from all over islands.

When I went to Bali I ate 5 slices in 1 sitting and felt so sick then a week later I watched them make it for the first time and did not realise how much freaking butter was on it. So I stick to 1-2 slices now. Great vid lads

holy wtf, 5 slices !?!?! Im an indonesian, and everytime i eat martabak, i could only eat 2 slices before i become too full. martabak is a very good food, but freaking unhealthy.

@@bunyway clearly you haven’t made your own if you say wijsman. You will only need a small amount of wijsman if you even use it at all. I was classically french trained chef, so i much prefer butter in food when i can put it, but martabak manis just screams for blue band (the margarine abroad tasted different)
