relations between the two countries are good. it's just that Australia really wants Papua separated from Indonesia. Only that. for political, cultural, economic relations etc. are still intertwined.

Australia played a major role in splitting EAST-TIMOR from INDONESIA. US , UK , EUROPE( France& Belgium) and Australia their foreign policy is Devide and Rule . Devide the Citizens of a country based on their language religion and Human Race .

Now the 'country' has all it's resources being all but given to Australia, and the only reason it's economy hasn't collapsed is because of Indonesia. Hell, they are Independent only in name now. Nothing really changed beside a name update and their resources gone to Australia. Culture, trade, etc is literally just Indonesia.
