As per the latest understanding gov should not be running companies other than countries strategic areas. Gov has to lay down rules and processes then be the protector / implementer of those . Private companies run more efficiently than gov managed ones

Hoping to read about the emergency in detail some day in future. No judiciary in India is full of nepotism...and that's why judicial reforms which is a very important is being always delayed.... There is more checks on legislation like press, people's protest, elections...but no checks on judiciary...so I don't think we should make judiciary more powerful than legislative...both must be equally important..

Judiciary has to be independent in making decisions but it has to be responsible for providing detailed information about its decisions which should make sense and must be beneficiary for the country as a whole No need for any body to be the strongest and especially the justice system because it will rather again create a supreme power But the way judicial system of this country has been struggling feels so painful

I retired from Central service Gr A 15yrs ago. Worked during emergency in the regime of IG. I remember it was truly best time. We rather enjoyed disciplined service with highest efficiency. 6 ministers of current ruling party and 1rss leader are in top 10 in the list of most powerful people in India( for legislature).And the chief justice is at 21st position (for judiciary) . Legislature seems too much powerful when compared to judiciary.Atleast the chief justice should be in top 10.

I know right! The NCERT books are soo well developed keeping in mind the psychology of students of the that particular age...the unfortunate thing is that there are not teachers intrested enough in trying to take advantage of it... instead of only completing their syllabus.

A video series explaining all the five-year plans would be great. One video-one five years plan. Explain the projects, targets, why they were undertaken and were they a success or a failure.

Emergency was declared on ground on "Internal Disturbance " Not "Internal Rebellion " This term Internal Disturbance was later replaced by "Armed Rebellion" by 44th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1978, as it was too vague and had a wider connotation. Legislative or Judiciary no one should be powerful over the others bcz of the presence of Constitution which determines the power and authority between the principal branches of a country. But there is another theory of Checks and Balance which actually keep balances between the circulation and practice and dependence on each other.

One error in the program: " on March21, 1977, emergency was lifted and election was declared." But elections were declared on 17th January 1977 after lifting the Censorship only. When Indira Gandhi and her party were defeated, she lifted the emergency on 21st March.

Best quote to describe this "The biggest mistake she made was to declare the emergency".

Agree with him the judiciary should be stronger in Democracy the selected people have more seats it is easy for them to act as dictatorship. So the strong judiciary is needed to control them . There are good judges to give bold judgement.

Neither Judiciary nor Legislature should be more powerful than the other. There should be balance of power between all 3 organs of government to ensure smooth checks and balances. If one is more powerful than the other then there's no mechanism left for checks and balances.
