That was actually a nail biter. The LYNX are leading in the Western Conference. Boston & Mitchell were incredible. DAMIRIS DANTAS coming off of the bench was absolutely amazing. The lynx played Caitlin hard. Didn't give her an inch. Clark scored 17 points and she played hard in the 4th quarter, helping to keep the FEVER in the game. It's exciting to see that the FEVER can play with the top teams.

Yes it is amazing what a good defense can do. They just froze her for the first half. My therory is that you can do this for a while (like double or triple team someone) but not for a complete game as you have other hot issues to deal with, so the defensive pressure against one individual is going to change from very hard to average at some point, and then you have CC fourth quarter. Boston is fire, Micthell is fire, I like Hull and Smith as well. Great team.

I wish more people had given them a chance to learn and grow with each other, instead of expecting Caitlin to come in and be a savior. CC is already an all-star and likely ROTY, but in a team sport you need to develop rhythm and idiosyncrasies together on the court. That takes weeks/months to do! Glad to see they're finally there.

While the Lynx didn't have their star player, it was a gutsy win for the Fever. CC had an overall off day, partially because the Lynx are statistically an excellent defensive team. But AB and Mitchell picked up the slack. This is not a game they could win earlier in the season. Lynx are the type of team that Fever would have trouble with-too tall, too long, too deep on the bench and great 3 point shooters. Fever have come a long way.

Well summed up, entirely fair. Overall, the Lynx are still a better team, but the Fever are good enough now to beat them when they're not quite at their best. And that's no surprise--they beat the Liberty, best team in the league. One advantage to being such a young team is you're much less likely to have players out with injuries--no substitute for experience, but nobody ever gets younger. Here's hoping the Fever hit the sweet spot between youth and experience next season. Or the one after that.

OK, I have casually watched wnba games for about a decade. I am NOT, absolutely NOT, one of these dudes who has been hating on the WNBA because of stuff like Griner's goofy D Cousins claim. I just didn't care and was hoping they would stop talking about men's basketball and just do their own thing. So i was happy and proud when Caitlin Clark popped off. So this season I have been watching the extended highlight videos every game and some full games here and there. Clark is amazing. I love her. She's like if Steve Nash had come around decade later and he would have been coached to take 10+ 3's every night. Her passing and basketball IQ is just wonderful to watch, a sight to behold. Unfortunately, the overall basketball IQ is the league is most definitely not. Watch these highlights and almost every play features an off the ball defender getting caught ball watching or a help defender leaving their initial cover assignment WIDE OPEN for a three. The gals' instincts when it comes to team defense is very poor and i have no f'ing clue what the coaches are teaching them. 7:53 This play is a perfect example. THREE different Fever had a chance to pop out and cover Smith before she had a wide open 3. Watch from 7:56-58 as Smith runs right into CC's line of vision. Clark looks at the ball and does her job for a sec making sure her defensive assignment isn't going anywhere, but Smith runs right past her for the wide open wing 3. I know Smith was not her assignment (either Samuelson or Boston had her), but at that point she needed to pick her up. 8:18 WTF is #6 Carleton doing at 8:23 as she literally MOVES OUT OF THE WAY to allow Kelsey Mitchell to drive to the basket. Seriously. How is she in the league? Hah. I looked up her stats and she really is absolute trash.

12th straight game with at least 4 turnovers, shooting below 30% from three point range in past 2 games, shot below 19% from three point range and below 30% field goal percentage tonight, averaging 3 fouls a game because she cannot stay in front of quicker and stronger guards, in the past 10 games only scored 20+ points in 2 games. But is doing a good job as a rookie, scoring 16.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 7.8 assists per game.
