I purchased a new Indian Scout for the wife as her first ‘big’ bike after seeing it at a bike show. She loves it. I had a ride on it. OMFG, it’s THAT good I bought a new one for myself. We’ve now had a Scout each for 3 years, what a great bike. Handles well, goes well, lots of torque and when you park it up, you can sit with a drink just looking at it. You can ride it all day and still want more. If your thinking about having a bike, test ride a Scout , see for yourself.

I fell in love with the scout bobber. 4 years in and no plans to ever sell it. Fun, quick, cheap and comfortable. I did do the Corbin seat and 12" bars to bring to fruition the look I had in my minds eye and I couldn't be happier. I actually sold my 86 sportster (which is a beast with the 1200 top end, cams and super E) caused I always chose the bobber to ride for the past couple years

Leaving Harleys in the dust is quite entertaining, especially when the rider is one of your friends. I crank 2nd to 70 and leave off, by that time I'm far enough ahead they know who is the fastest.

I could only imagine when Indian finally gives it an upgrade. Maybe the power plus engine and dash like on the new chiefs.

I bought a Scout in 2016 when I retired. I'd had lots of bikes since I was 17 - dirt, touring, sport - and when I saw the Scout I fell in love with the styling and reckoned it was the kind of design that could get me onto a cruiser. It really knew how to get up and boogie and took a lot of my riding mates by surprise. It had stage 1 pipes that gave it a deep rumble and the sound was fantastic. However, the suspension sucked. I put custom made shocks on the rear and new springs in the forks. That was an improvement but the rear had such short travel that our local roads were a spine killer. I sold it after 16 months. They've got better suspension on the new models but the short travel at the rear is still a limitation, and its shorter on the bobber. If you have good smooth roads to ride it's a great bike and a lot of fun.

I mean between the Indian name, a gorgeous modern take on a nostalgic look with some modern subtle performance upgrades like liquid cooling, belt drive and cartridge forks, the fact it makes well over 20% more power than any Harley in this weight/price class (might be closer to 30% or more power; don’t quote me, but I know it’s more than 20%) and last but not least it’s American made. Did I mention the sixty starts at $9,000? The 1133 cc / 100 HP Scout starts around $11-12k I believe. So Yea they’re killing the show, I don’t know a single bike that can compete with it right now. These things keep up with 600 sport bikes which is nuts to me. Maybe not on a track haha, but they hold their own.

  • @Fearless154

@@burrr1047 nah you're pushing it too far. My buddy owns 2018 scout bobber and a fun and relatively fast for american cruiser but it cannot get near the 600cc sport bike's on the straight. It can keep up and even beat 650 bikes but no way close to 600cc.

  • @burrr1047

@@Fearless154 Yea... no... lol I didn’t push anything too far. I specifically said “maybe not on a track”. If I had known I’d be called out for not being specific... well nvm, I guess I still wouldn’t care lol But screw it, I’ll humor you. I was simply referring to riding with friends around town or what have you. I mean... A Cruiser isn’t usually a motorcycle MOST people would choose to race a sport bike... so I didn’t think that really needed harping. All I’m saying is that the Scout will hit its powerband between like 4-7k RPMs whereas most 600 sport bikes don’t hit theirs until anywhere from 9-17k?? 😂Obviously that’s dependant on your make/model since we’re loosely bundling all 600 class sport bikes. The Scout accelerates rather quickly for ANY CRUISER. So yea, the scout will absolutely keep up with most 600 sport bikes while cruising around town with friends. And by friends, I do mean people that aren’t doing a buck 80 down a backroad for “fun.” I mean because, let’s be real that’s not just dumb, that’s a little bit suicidal on a back road and pretty inconsiderate to everyone around you including your “friends,” anyone driving near you, and anyone who lives on that road. God forbid there’s kids playing in the road.

@@burrr1047 Well riding with friends you can keep up pretty much with any bike as long as your friends aren't douchebags who trying to run away from you. I have a buddy with z300 and he is fine riding with me and I'm on the tuono 1100. By "keeping up" most people mean "can compete" While typically scout hit the powerband after 6k RPMs and 600cc after 10k but the race focused 600cc in line 4 revs very quickly and will get off the line much faster than the scout also, because of the weight and non-existing aerodynamics scout is in big disadvantage too. Scout is an amazing bike I'll take it over 600cc sportbike any day but it cannot match 600cc on the highway or drag racing.

I am a new rider and I bought a Indian Scout because I read that it was a good starter bike. I don't get my license until May but love the bike I bought. I think it depends on the riders maturity in regards to what you should ride. I know guys who are new riders who bought 800lb Harleys and have never dropped them and ride them to this day. I don't plan to go nuts on the road and I also plan to practice my riding skills. Also the price tag doesn't hurt my pocket, but I'm confused because I thought you said on some of your videos that the Scout is a good beginner bike and then on some you have said its not a good beginner bike. I just would like to know where you stand on this again. Thanks. Love your videos.

The bars protect the levers very well. She will SCOOT, so just make sure your right hand has the maturity for it. The nice thing is it’s a really smooth roll-on at lower revs so you won’t end up jumping her out from under you. I have a 29” inseam and can flatfoot and pull up off the stand very easily, I also love my 10” mini apes and bar end mirrors. A lot of people get the Bobber for the look, but your lower back will thank you if you get the regular or the new Rogue instead.

If you need more, you’re a little nuts, get an xDiavel or VMax but those are over the top. I had a VRod and Diavel, I like Scout better! Ok I’m 62! I like the Scout, but the bike it was based on, the Octane, was so much better. I get Polaris and why they made the Scout like this. Polaris, when making the Victory, studied the market for 8 years before making the first one. They were all-around better bang for your buck than Harley. No one bought them. However, Victory has the highest approval rating when it came to its riders. So, I get why the Scout looks the way it does. Cruiser riders are too nostalgic. I would recommend the Scout as someone's first bike. I had a 750 Shadow and I grew out of it pretty quickly. I'm a Victory boy now. If they were still around, I would be a Victory customer for life. Victory had the only cruisers that I thought looked better than some Harleys. The new Chiefs are looking pretty good. I wish they had a liquid-cooled version. I'll be hanging onto my Victory Highball for a bit. I hope I meet one of you guys one day so you can ride a "real" cruiser lol.

What a spread of bikes i'm looking at. I got a 2017 Yamaha R3 as a first bike at the end of 19'. I have always wanted a sport bike as a kid, even though my father has always been a Harley rider. As a first bike I am extremely happy with my choice. It was cheap, the insurance is cheap, and has been cheap to upkeep. After riding for a year, I am looking for a bike I can take to a twisty road as I have my R3 but ride the highway in comfort. Indian came out with the 2022 Chief which definitely caught my attention, especially the Dark Horse w/ the 116ci. The 2020+ Harley Davidson Low Rider S has been on my mind since it debuted. It looks so so good IMO and I would be happy to pay the price. The Scout is also a great looking motorcycle. I look at all these cruisers and think about a Yamaha MT-10 in my garage. Take that back, an MT-10 with all the add ons still doesnt cost as much as a 2020+ Harley Low Rider S. Yet insurance will be higher over a few years on a hyper-naked sport bike versus the almost 2 liter Harley Davidson. Then, we have the adventure category. I'm sure I could buy a Yamaha Tenere 700 and be extremely happy. Triumph came out with the 850 Sport, looks sick. But why not spend the coin and get a KTM adventure? Geez, stop messing around and just get a BMW GS. What is a man to do with so many bikes? One of each please. Fantastic content as always. Cheers.

Front suspension - yep it's mushy, too much braking dive. Cheap fix, progressive springs and heavier fork oil. Really stabilizes the front end. Switch out stock tires for Michelin Commander II. Both are cheap fixes for the few weaknesses of this bike. Oh, and what I found interesting is the seat. When I sat on it and test rode it, I thought this was the most ergonomic seat I had found on a bike. 30 miles later my butt was suffering. I can;t figure out why, it seems like it is perfect at first. I went cheap and put an Air Hawk seat cushion on it and that made all the difference. Other upgrades? LED headlight and turn signals. These changes I did are pretty cheap and pretty much take care of any short comings. Since the bike is designed to look so retro I put old style fork boots on it.Protects the seals and look super cool. A Dart Marlin Flyscreen is a sharp looking addition and it is a surprising improvement over naked for comfort.

Indian has actually been listening and the problems are getting fixed. At least at the dealer near me, it comes with Pirelli Night Dragons. Great tires, except some negative reports from wet conditions. Others say they did good in the rain. The suspension issues have been fixed. It's good on them for fixing the issues even though they sell almost immediately anyway. My dealership had about 20 Scouts on the floor, almost all were already sold.

The term "Hog" was meant to be associated with a fully dress motorcycle, usually a Harley Davidson. I think the stock pipes on an Indian Scout sounds better than the after market pipes on this one. I have a very short inseam which usually forces me to stay with cruisers, I like other bikes, but I can't reach the ground making them dangerous for me to ride.

I've done the drag between the rebel 1100 and the 2018 Indian scout bobber. Scout is much faster but the rebel 1100 is extremely restricted from the factory the top speed is limited to 100mph and early acceleration is gutted too. It needs ECU flash badly.

Harley designs a perfect cruiser like GM designed their cars of yesteryear, FOR LONG STRAIGHT FREEWAYS WITH NO Sweeping turns! Forward footpegs and lounge chair seating make that possible. For mostly sitting riding you need more mid controls and lighter weight. The Indian is slot of bang for the buck

I started riding in 2008...started with a V-Star 650, moved on to a V-Star 1300 about a year later. I got rid of both of them a few years ago, but I am soon to get back in. Here’s my issue: I love the scout bobber AND the HD Low Rider S equally. They will be ridden mainly on the highway for commuting and for charity rides with one of the local MCs. I’m close to both a HD dealer and a large Indian dealer. Which would you get? Price isn’t a consideration. I can afford anything in either lineup and will keep the bike for the foreseeable future. I guess my real question is which will give me the longest term satisfaction, quality/reliability, and riding community to be a part of?

I test rode the scout/scout bobber (both) at demo passing through town and I was impressed. The best bike indian makes in my opinion (tried the dark horse, no thanks, and dont care for the large touring style bikes). What's so unique about it? It's one of those bikes where it easily jumps into two roles: #1 Easy soft riding, will behaved for relaxed riding, and will maneuver gently if you want move about gracefully and take it easy. #2 It can perform like an aggressive animal if you want it too. It's got the power, and can be quite nimble and quick which is great, I thought it cornered well but again its a cruiser so watch out for those pegs. The ergos on the bike easily facilitate comfortable riding and aggressive handling. Good job Indian, I feel Harley hasn't perfected that formula yet. I'd consider the scout, especially if I had the disposable cash. Every poor man's nemesis these days :(.

The front brakes are more than enough, it’s the front suspension you need to get past. The front suspension on my bobber is spongy as hell and upon applying the brakes, a lot of the braking power is lost because of the how much the suspension compresses. I used to bike ride tons, and My mountain bike had adjustable suspension and the moment I stiffened the front shocks, I noticed how much more effective the brakes were.
