Indian Railways | Satpura Narrow Gauge Expedition | Part 2 - Chhindwara to Nainpur

Part 2 of the Satpura Narrow Gauge Expedition carried out in the monsoon of 2015. This part covers the 139 km journey from Chhindwara Jn. to Nainpur Jn. on the 58851 Chhindwara - Nainpur Passenger.
The Satpura Narrow Gauge lines were inaugurated in the early 1900s and together comprised the largest Narrow Gauge network in the Indian subcontinent. This network is now consigned to history after its conversion to Broad Gauge.

    Nainpur junction was heaven for narrow gauge lovers. My grandfather serviced at Nainpur during steam train era. It was so rare and amezing that .. from Nagpur railway station we had broad gauge and narrow gauge trains towards Jabalpur. Nagpur Jabalpur express BG and NG both.

    My father was posted at Nainpur for many years. I was born here during the steam era. Nostalgic...

    @@writersinc1963 amezing... You are most lucky person.. I can't imagine that time how nainpur junction was .. most busiest place with steam locomotives

    @@KT43124 yes, indeed I consider myself lucky. Nainpur was very beautiful with many railway houses having beautiful gardens. Azad Park was a beautiful garden park. I saw the 1st Satpura Express running with steam locomotive. Steam loco shed was very busy 24x7.

    मार्च २००० में मैं नागपुर से छिंदवाड़ा सिवनी नैनपुर जंक्शन होकर जबलपुर गया था ३००की यात्रा नेरोगेज ट्रेन से २४घंटों में तय की यह अविस्मरणीय थी

    12160- जबलपुर नागपुर सुपरफास्ट एक्सप्रेस 🚆 ट्रेन , जबलपुर से प्रतिदिन रात 9-20 को चलकर इटारसी, आमला होते हुए 550 कि.मी. का सफर 9 घण्टे में तय करती है, इस ट्रेन को जबलपुर से नैनपुर , सिवनी , छिंदवाड़ा होते हुए नागपुर चलाए तो 130 कि. मी. की दूरी कम होगी, 2 घण्टे का समय बचेगा, रेल्वे का ईंधन और जनता का पैसा बचेगा , और सिवनी जिले के वासियों को नागपुर तक की कनेक्टिविटी 🚆 ट्रेन मिल जायेगी। अतः जनहित को ध्यान में रखकर इस ट्रेन को जल्द ही इस रूट से चलाया जाए।

    What was that at 13.36 ? Neolithic art or modern art..... Sad this beautiful rail network is lost...

    Very sad. IR failed to understand the heritage value of this 100+ year old section and converted the gauge for commercial reasons.

    They could have preserved a particular section esp. near Nainpur Jn as Heritage section. Just like the 10-12 KMs Patalpani-Kalakund Heritage section near Indore, MP.

    Was that rail now changed to 1676mm?? Or still narrow gauge?
