    Population control bill is very important to get the full benefits of infrastructure. High Speed track needs to be laid, latest signaling systems etc needs to be introduced. For many decades the govt didn't upgraded nor introduced new technologies into railway. Its only now that development taking place and it will take some time.

    Except for Bihar and a few other places, most of India already has fertility rates at or near replacement levels, so no population control bill is needed any more. Even for Bihar, simply getting it up to the development level of UP under Yogiji will start lowering population growth rates.

    One possible way to fasttrack new track laying is to do track doubling/tripling parallel to existing tracks. This will allow use of old track to bring supplies to lay new track and also allow high speed trains to utilise new track sections and shift to old track on sections where new track is yet to be built. Of course this will be more complex and need more tracking and coordination to avoid accidents.

    It is highly unlikely bcoz "Land Acquisation" is the biggest problem when train tracks or any roads are built. For example- Bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad was supposed to be completed in 2022-23. But it will now be completed in 2027-28. It got delayed because land aquisation took 5 years.

    Your point is correct that Indian railways is slower than European and East Asian railways, but just a slight correction, when calculating average speed for Indian railways, stoppage time at intermediary stations is included (dividing the end-to-end distance by the total travel time), if we use the same methodology for railways of other countries then there is only one (rail-based) train that has average speed higher than 300 km/h and that is Beijing-Nanjing high speed rail (317 km/h) so still much faster than Indian railways (until Bullet train starts). But that is a high speed rail, a better comparison would be USA's fastest train Acela Express which has an average speed of 108 km/h (Washington-New York-Boston) while India's fastest Gatiman/Vande bharat has an average speed of about 93-95 km/h which is still slower. In UK average speeds are around 95-105 km/h which is faster than our fastest train. So yes we are far behind East Asia, Europe, etc.. and we need massive bullet train network but to prove that point its better to compare average speed to average speed of other countries and not the maximum speeds, which gives us a better picture.     While traveling by train one can hug amount of railway land not utlised refugees are making good use of the land. Also during peak office hours frequency of local trains must increase in Kolkata and Howrah. Adding more high speed coach manufacturing factories in Bengal is long over due

    Vande Bharat don't bring that much avg speed it is just 80 to 90 km/hr simmilar to other premium trains. It is given more priority over Satabdi. If not Satabdi have the capability to achieve similar speed in speed limit tracks. Only if speed limit is increased to 200 kmph then vande Bharat would save much more time than Satabdi.

    Let us say the distance between Chennai and Bangalore is 300 kms and it is double lines ( Up line and down line) In this case , the route km is 300kms and the track km is 600+ kms (+ includes the length of loop lines, points & crossings etc in stations ). If there were 3 lines , then the route km continues to be 300 kms and track km becomes 900+ kms.

    Your comparison point is wrong. You are comparing average speed of Indian railways with the maximum speed of other country 's trains which shows the Indian trains with slow movement. Compare average speed with average speed of both the sides to draw the conclusion.

    The greatest obstacle to India's railway system is it’s inefficient, corrupt and indifferent railway babus. These babus do their routine duties like clerks without any commitment to the organisation. No innovative ideas, No leadeship quality. Just by revising the timetable It's possible to improve the average speed. The time table isn’t set according to the capability of the trains. In many cases It's seen that the trains reach the intermediate stations much earlier than the time set in the timetable. But they have to unnecessarily wait in those stations to comply with the timetable. Railway babus don’t feel the need to revise the timetable. They behave like onlookers.!
