Indian Motorcycle Chieftain Dark Horse | We Ride In Portugal

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We took the Indian Motorcycle Chieftain Dark Horse on our Bike World mini holiday to Portugal, good weather and some amazing roads to test the American bagger. Will Chris be selling all his bikes for one of these?

Nailed it Chris. I have a Tuono Factory, Panigale V4S and a Thruxton RS. I always only had sport bikes and supernakeds. I added a Street Glide ST last year and I just love riding it. No pressure to go fast and no compromises on comfort or features. It’s actually quite capable and fun when you’re pushing it - if I rode my other bikes as hard I’d be in trouble. The only downsides are weight when moving it around the driveway and it’s expensive. It’s extended my riding season to all year because of the weather protection too. It totally changed my mind about touring bikes.

Yeah and Chris's comment about just enjoying the ride without needing to go too fast is very true. I converted my mt07 into a touring bike with big screen, handguards, luggage etc and it's the bike I love to go visiting places on, as you enjoy the views rather than going too fast. My other bikes, Tuono 1100 and s1000r, are great for weekend rides, but they are all about the roads and at a faster pace...

These are true performers as far as an American air cooled V Twin goes. Aluminum forged frame, fox adjustable rear shock, braided lines, low mounted engine. For what they are, they LOVE tucking in and forging a tight inner corner line. I ride a GSXR, and even I say these things about this chassis. With the Stage 2 kit, these are absolute missiles with cornering chops to boot. Its "turn-in" takes NO effort, and is nearly a sharp dive. I've never felt that on any other fully faired bikes, even BMWs. The slightest weight into the steering initiates a near immediate weight shift and it truly impresses me.

I love when sport bike riders take a bagger out. No fear of leaning them. Now try a challenger in sport mode.

lol When it comes right down to it, I'll ride anything that has 2 wheels. In my fiscally po, comfortable old (65) age...that would be a '72 T100R Daytona and '18 KLR-650. Fortunately, for me, one of my best friends has a fleet of 20+ bikes. THAT is where I go to ride the '94 Duck 900SS SP, the (now sold) Guzzi Daytona 1000 (4 valves Canadian spec, never sold in US), ST 1300, etc. I'm a biker Ho 😎 I'll ride anything! Welcome to the club, Chris 🖐

For all the same reasons, I would still go for something a less heavy and classic, with a torque biased powertrain. Triumph Speed Twin. Triumph Scrambler 1200. Triumph Bobber. Royal Enfield Continental GT. Moto Guzzi V7.

Second Indian video I’ve seen today that the words Bagger and Cruiser are used interchangeably. In the Harley world a bagger is a Touring Chassis and a Cruiser is a Softail. So is this a Touring Chassis or a Cruiser Chassis?

It's called satellite lag. When you're moving at 60 and 70 mph it's to be expected. Your GPS locator has to send a signal to the satellite and then the satellite transfers that signal back down to your navigation system. By the time all that has happened you're past that point.

  • @siraff4461

@@marksmith9350 Oh I know - it just amused me that it was almost dead on accurate to 50 yards back. Pretty much all systems do it in certain places where the signal takes a while. I prefer maps personally but thats because I like the adventure and sights. Nice to have the tech but I usually turn them off.

I’m totally on board with these bikes in theory- flowing riding on flowing roads in the sun. Except we don’t really have those in the UK! Or at least not many in SE England. Also a legs forward position kills my back. So sadly I can only admire cruisers from a distance and stick with my R9t for a Sunday pose
