@ChrisStephenArt
7 ай бұрын
@@kendadavis7714 You don’t really need anything specific, any waterproof ink will work, I used Indian / India ink for this, but acrylic ink is also good. A dip pen of some kind is useful but not essential, you could get a metal or bamboo one. You could shape a stick with a craft knife, that works well, I have a video showing me make one. I’ll send you a link
Love it! Are you using a bamboo pen?

Truly inspirational! My bamboo pens and Indian ink is being delivered today and I can't wait to get started. I think I know the answer to this question, but are you working on a flat or angled surface please? I tend to start off at an angle and then lie the board flat, but the water all tends to pool at the bottom of the paper and dry out quickly at the top. I'm just wondering if you can still get those effects on the trees if the paper is flat throughout. Thanks and keep posting.
@ChrisStephenArt
5 ай бұрын
Hi Lorna. I usually keep the board at an angle, but will occasionally lay it flat if needed. The effect will still work, it’s mainly about water content and the mist bottle. Just experiment and enjoy the process!!

Do you use other ink colors such as sepia? Or do you stick to black and use washes only for color?
@ChrisStephenArt

I only used black for this one. All colour is a watercolour wash

Good question. I’ve only really used ink as an under painting, essentially just for the darker areas. I suppose you could use just ink if you had more colours. I may give that a try!!
@lindamiller1921
Жыл бұрын
If you are thinking about doing that, you will be amazed at some of the unusual techniques that are being used with different types of inks. For instance, some fountain pen inks and using bleach. Or, alcohol inks and using a wash with alcohol, etc. I really want to try some of these techniques but am living in Central America and have not found any of these types of inks. I will purchase some on my next visit to the USA. Here is one link but you can search for other videos. kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6Gtm8-yn7Kfkrw.html

Which handmade paper you used, may I know Sir.
@ChrisStephenArt
6 ай бұрын
Of course. I didn’t use handmade paper for this painting, it’s Bockingford 140lb cold pressed. A good cheaper alternative
How wet did you get the paper? Is it cold pressed paper? Do you know how I can get the tops of trees to resemble evergreen trees? I get it sometimes, but usually not.
@ChrisStephenArt

Hi Mary, I only wet the paper enough to let the ink start to flow. With regards to painting evergreens, the best thing to do is sketch them repeatedly with a pencil, until you get it right. It’s all about practice
Que papel usa?
