Indian railway largest and busiest railway over the world... Most of people lost their lives for major train accident.. one of the recent major accident is triple train collision is Orissa .. 293 peoples are died... This recent accident is highlighted the safety and better infrastructure... Primary reason behind the train accident - (1) Equipment failure - failure of critical equipment like break failure wheel failure is major cause.. manufacturing defects also contributed role on equipment failure... Gorakhpur experess derailment (2014) and janata express crash (2015) are major example (2) Human error - its mistaken by the train operator, maintain worker, signalling worker.. they do not follow the standard safety protocol.. (3)Lack of maintenance- many railroad are broken or rail fracture it can cause of derailment of train.. lack of maintenance is one of the major cause about this case.. (4)Ignore by local government - Amritsar train tragedy 2018 is one of the example of ignorance of local government.. in this case for Lack of awareness peoples are celebrating Dusshera and 60 people are died due to accident... Due to rail accidents lots of peoples are injure and died.. Government should improve the safety measures and introduce some act about railway.. maintain its regular.. and should introduce kabach system...

Factors behind Rail Accidents: 1. Human cause - a) Locomotive Staff error: mistakes made by train operators, signalling staff, maintenance workers or other railway personnel, neglecting safety protocols , misjudging distance, not following standard safety operating procedures. b) General public carelessness: Amritsar rail accident case 2018 is because of people's carelessness. 2. Infrastructure and technological lag : a) Poorly maintained tracks and inadequate maintenance are frequent cause of accidents. b) Latest technology like Kavach not in all trains because of high cost . 3. Sudden equipment failure: Sudden equipment failure like breaks, wheels, couplings , poor maintenance practices, outdated equipment are cause of accidents in number of cases. 4. Level crossing accidents: they occur when vehicles or pedestrians attempt to cross tracks at unauthorized tracks . 5. Overloading of trains and Overcrowding of platforms are common in india due to vast number of passengers. Measures taken by Indian Railways to reduce accidents. 1. Modernization and upgradation of equipments at reasonable cost . 2. Frequent Inspections and Audits of Railway departments. 3. Training and skill development of employees and workers of Railway. 4. Safety awareness campaigns. 5. Surveillance and security measures like cctv cameras and baggage scanners can help in Overcrowding platforms. Various committees set up by Government to enhance Railway safety like Rakesh Mohan committee 2012, Mittal Committee 2014, Bibek Debroy Committee 2015 . Following the recommendations of these committees may prove good measures for future Railway mishaps.

in the last 10 years disaster tolls a huge number of lives and a quite Concertful disaster that draws attention are railway accidents. it is one of the deadliest disaster if happens is a matter of nanoseconds. it can happen due to variety of reasons. 1. it may happen due to technical malfunctioning, corrosion, or rusting of mechanical devices. 2. improper maintenance of railway track and locomotives. 3. there may be technical default in signaling system. the above reasons are the careless administration of railway department headed by center and negligence of state administration as it is outside the scope of state list. along with that there are incidents in recent years which flashes foolish behaviour of people. recently in 2020, a goods train killed around 10 people who were sleeping on track and they didn't have idea of approaching train. in 2018, Punjab train incident killed almost 60 people and injured severely who were watching occasion Dussehra. two trains ramped over those people approaching in opposite direction. this incident shows lack of governance by local government and void attitude of people. above all rusting of tracks and improper maintenance shares the major portion of train accidents which leads to derailment . due to rising rail accidents government has launched methods and rules to prevent the disaster. 1. govt. of india launched KAWACH which signals whether two trains are running of same line and alert the nearest station for immediate help 2. if signals are malfunctioning then loco pilot would stop the train at signal for 1 minute and accelerate at 10 kmph 3. even though administration and maintenance of railway comes under union list but state should pay enough attention to curb down the mishap. 4. the government of india has notified around 15 disaster that is administered by National Disaster Management Authority. rail accidents is also a deadly disaster which should be taken care with due diligence by central government. 5. government should increase the allocation of expenditure to rail sector to plant radio frequency infrared system which involves huge amount of cost around Rs 50 lacs for A kilometer to increase the coverage from 1500 km to 68000 km.
