Indian Drums Tabla and Mridangam BopPad and Akai MPX 8
Музыка
Akai MPX 8 (and KMI BopPad Midi in)
Couple of nice features
1) You can add put your samples in SD Card and save as a Kit in MPX
2) Using the mpx8 finger drumming pad and mpx keys/wheel, select any previously saved kit. Ex: Tabla, Mridangam, Dhol, Dholak, of course all the kick/snare/high-low hats etc.,
3) Lesser lag when compared to midi controllers connected to DAW
4) All samples are 16 bit, 44.1k mono sounds similar to Alesis Samplepad
5) Connect MIDI IN and connect other instruments. Ex: connected BopPad using KMI midi expander in this case
Downsides
1) The sound is as good as your sample. Need to be saved in 16kb mono wav
2) This doesn't have a speaker by itself. Needs a L/R out or headphones1/4 inch output to the speaker/amp/system
Overall this is definitely a better gear than loading samples on your midi controller/DAW.

Good stuff! Thank you
C'est très intéressant : merci beaucoup.
Brilliant Brother, Thanks
This is great! - exactly what I am looking to do, except different samples. Is it easy to assign the pads to specific MIDI notes? I just got the BopPad and not I see how to set the pads to specific MIDI notes, but I need a controller and this looks perfect for the price.
This is a great demo! Thank you very much for putting this together. Do you know if I can get mridangam and tabla sounds with the cheaper Akai LPD8 (Version 2) as well?
Worth buying real tablas, great instrument.

Mind blowing drumming. I wonder if your up for drumming on one my tracks ?
QUAL É ESSE APARELHO QUE VOCÊ USA PRA CONECTAR A MPX8 NO OUTRO INSTRUMENTO?
Neat! What are the basic sounds you capture from the mridangam, and how do you account for slow vs fast playing where there can be coarticulation effects? Very curious. Thank you.
Hello there Yo got your sample pack to share of the indian sounds anywhere? =D
Does it have to be connected to the computer? Thank you
Good review~
