INDIAN DHABA FOOD!!! $3.67 Mutton Korma 🇮🇳
Rajinder Da Dhaba - Dhaba food is something I feel like I don't see many foreigners try in India. But being a food person and someone that loves a new experience, I knew I had to try this out in India. And if I was going to do it, why not try at one of the most popular in Delhi. I have to say even before I took my first bite, I was enthralled just by the size and magnitude of this restaurant. After ordering and exploring a little bit, I soon found out that this place is home to 5-6 sections spanning from the main road, all the way to the back side eating area. The sections are marked off for certain types of foods, so I was lucky enough to pick a section that is my all time favorite, GRAVY!! I love all things gravy in India so this section was a little bit of heaven for me. The energetic staff, various types of food, and roti counter, made this place feel like an amusement park for food lovers.
After receiving my food, I quickly got initiated into the worlds of Dhaba food basics AKA how to make a Desi style onion. Seeing the two older gentlemen in their smart casual attire enjoying chicken curry with desi onion, meant only one thing, I too, wanted to try the desi onion. A quick grab and a few bangs later, I was on my way to trying my first desi onion with my first Dhaba meal in India.
At first I thought the price was a little much for Dhaba food, but after seeing the grand stature of mutton(I mean there were like 3 huge pieces!), I realized I had definitely gotten my moneys worth. Not to mention the flavor, the spice, the piquantness of this dish. Along with a rich, creamy, butter filled gravy, I quickly realized, this Dhaba quickly changed my "perception" of what a Dhaba truly is.
I want to give another shout out to the staff here, they are truly what makes the Dhaba, an experience of a lifetime.

I have to admit, among all the western food vloggers I have seen, you seem to got the essence of Indian cuisine and the real unbiased way to eat it.

This is not a dhaba it's a dynasty.... so huge.❤
Oh my God that lamb looked amazing. It's just not really a regular thing here in New England where we are. My mom used to make it fairly often, at least a couple of times a month, but now we really only see it around Easter. She'd cube it, brown in in butter with onions and rosemary, then make gravy from the pan and spoon it over boiled potatoes.

11:42 Trust me, crushed onion tastes totally different from cut one. The molecules kinds fly in your mouth. Specially when eating with non veg food (mutton curry). Cut ones tastes sweet and crushed one is bitter hot. Got to put bit of salt with it.

Garlic Naan and Mutton Korma is an excellent combination ❤
You could have had a glass of cold sweet lassi with that meal. It compliments well with spicy food. Lassis are also a cultural must when you are in a dhaba.

Hi Max Good to see you are enjoying in New Delhi. You need to explore more food. If possible please go and stay with locals(home-stays). I won’t suggest in New Delhi it’s so crowded try in some other state. Just a suggestion plan your itinerary up towards North going from New Delhi to Uttarakhand thn to Himachal Pradesh (Manali) and from Manali you can take bus towards Leh(Ladakh) after that Kashmir coming down to Jammu and Amritsar(Golden Temple). In india we have hostel culture as well and new generations will be more than happy to suggest and welcome you. I would have hosted you but I am afraid I don’t live in India anymore but what you are enjoying is one side of India. We do have other side as well please explore that too. I am more than happy to reply if you have any questions. Have a good time!!! Cheers
Hey Max you look a lot like my cousin. And you are such a pure soul. Your parents must be proud of you. May God bless you.
