It's a tragedy for us that these so called pressure groups have been able to call the shots for so long. In India, as correctly mentioned by Dhawan Sir, we are lethargic at best in taking up development projects, But even when we do so, such groups crop up and start protesting against it.

It's like permanent airfare carrier for India and it's development is very important......hope government will manage all concern of environment and will develop this island as soon as possible......it will give strength to the Indian Navy....

Despite of the horrid reputation during the colonial period, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands this day are one of the most sought after tourist destination of India. The islands are famous for its serene, white sandy beaches characterized by sparkling blue waters

Great nicobar islands will be game changer for India. Singapore has greatly benefited from it's location on malacca strait and now it has become over crowded for ships.Great nicobar islands can act as a trans shipment port , bunker station , crew change station and will generate a lot of revenue for India .

We need to establish a balance between development & environment. In order to alleviate poverty & strengthen India economically & strategically, development of Great Nicobar Island is the need of the hour. At the same time, protecting our environment & natural wildlife is also necessary. I beleive, India is capable & sensitive enough that it will complete the whole mega projects without much disturbance to the environment & wildlife. Respect for nature has been a part of our culture since anceint times.

We should develop these unsinkable aircraft carriers more. They play pivotal role in our defence in future.

(I have written on world affairs video a year ago about this Same plan) India must develop this island like Hawaii and make huge harbours and tropical tourist destination :- 1) convert a big Andaman island into a bali like tourist destinations, and of religious significance 2) make that Island , an international trading poet on indo Pacific rout like Singapore

According to environmentalist we should remain under developed because we should not harm environment. I have seen many projects getting delayed for 3-4years because of this. At last we lost money & time which we definitely can't get back. Now sometime I think can they be funded by china to slow down development of India.

When it comes to strategic development , it's baseless to target only india with respect to environmental consequence. Previously we all have witnessed that Western countries as well as china developing their isolated islands and captured area in terms of military and other livelihood which also includes cutting of trees. Though its not a new context to argue on. India should move forward and consider sustainable development both militarily and lively.

Good to see govt finally taking the steps, but we are decades late in doing so, yes decades. Many of current problems could have avoided if this was done atleast 2-3 decades ago. If it was done back then problem of China at our backyard & Hambantota port would never have came into picture. Great Nicobar has potential to surpass Singapore terminal, Singapore terminal is overcrowded & they are building 2nd branch to handle the flow. Great Nicobar can easily take 50-60% of that traffic & bring in huge money as charges & fees. Great Nicobar alone has potential to add $ 1-2 trillion into economy. US has long been developed it's Islands whether it's Hawai, Guam, Diego Garcia or any other. French & British did the same. China has gone step forward & even made artificial island apart from natural one. Yet here is our India who is still thinking of doing so & these so called NGOs once again putting obstacles. Earlier it was for development of roads in mountains, & now development of island. There are 100s of Islands in AN chain, send them to do plantation there & leave this one island for strategic use.

We need to make andman a massive tourist destination like Maldives,

Great analysis! It is time that we explore the potential of Nicobar islands. One correction: Odisha has "Paradeep" port, but Bhubaneswar is the capital city of Odisha and not a port city. The distance is around 100 km between these two cities.

The transshipment port and terminal is aimed at making Colombo redundant since it is far better located. This is a major asset for India and with the growth of India's economy, will rival Singapore. India should firmly tell outsiders to stay out of our internal affairs regarding environment and tribal affairs.

After 20 years india will reach at the position where no other countries compete India ❤️🇮🇳

We should focus on plantation programs in our home country on a government level rather than opposing the development. If each city of our country just plants 100 trees & if only 40 of them survive, then also they will be a lot in the long run & will help us a lot with climate change. 🇮🇳📈

This island is really strategically important to develop for us because..it is situated near international trade routes as well ... although we are so late for doing so...we are not using it in right way...yes we need to take care of environmental damage as well with this.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands have India's best nesting beaches for three species of marine turtles - Hawksbill, Green turtle and world's largest sea turtle, the Leatherback

There should be place like Singapore in this Great nicobar islands and also big Navy base and air force base. Mostly we have to increase business here and attract more FDI here. Development is important but it should be done in a sustainable way, without causing much damage to the environment, Andaman and Nicobar is an important biological hotspot of India, the ecosystem is very sensitive, development should happen there but with minimal or no damage to the natural habitat.

Very good initiative to keep the balance of nature (for locals, environment , development and even versatile tourism) along with establishing business and security infrastructure… this is going to be remarkable and very important for all region and this will be a definite hub of new era transformation.

@@minadas3048 you don't understand the scale of development within 2025 that will happen in north east India. Railways are doubling every existing line and electrifying it. Kaaladan project delayed due to Myanmar Government Change but recently they had a talk over it and the government will try to ensure that within 2025 it's completed. Arunachal and Assam Hydro power projects are powerful enough to power entire northeast. New Railway lines are also being developed and one is in final survey in Tripura and Mizoram. ONGC has been actively searching for natural resources in Tripura and may find huge quantities of petroleum. RIMS to be developed in Tripura within 2025.
