Congratulation to IAF on induction of LCA. But now in IAF there is a divide on LCA. Some want to turn the LCA into a advanced jet trainer due to its failure as multirole fighter, others are still convinced that it could be a success and some want to produce despite its drawbacks and just use it as a point defense fighter like the MiG-21 (which it is suppose to replace). Now that would be a achievement, producing a 1960´s MiG-21 kind of fighter in 2015.

Mike Hunter You are right in saying that it could be used as a advanced trainer...the LCA is a Mig 21 ++. With advanced avionics and the right kind of pilot training and missiles even the Migs have been able to fend off until recently the Pakistani F16s . Just like the F 16 Super Viper is not another F 16 of the 80s, the Mig 21 of IAF of today is not the Mig of 60s except for the airframe.The US after spending trillions on the F 35 just found out that it is a lame fighter even against the F 16 of the 90s in a dogfight.Now that would be achievement to produce a duck in 2015 that could be beaten by vintage fighters of the 60s and 80s.
