that is past history. post WW2, their interests are aligned with India. they have helped us in defence and space. never for once have they acted against Indian interests & thats what matters. for a long time, India had no friends and very few countries stood by us. That is just not true at all... warts and all US is undisputable leader of the Free World - and it is nothing short of delusional to believe that aggressively expansionist & brazenly racist rogue totalitarian powers like China without counterbalancing by mighty US of A (even the declining US of A) would bode well for India or any other civilised Nation in the World for that matter. Also the proof of the pudding, as they say, is in eating it: it is not for nothing that tens of millions of people in search of a better life for themselves and their family from literally every corner of the World including India are clamouring for getting inside USA - a big majority ready to sell everything & lose a limb just to make it even it it is only as an illegal migrant. Also India enjoys much better relationship with US today, it is actually a very close partnership already in some of the most sensitive spheres and more often than not it is a mutually beneficial transaction. Moreover the US-India relationship is getting stronger every passing day because majority of both Nation's interest merge. However given the vast variety of variegated National Interests and also numerous people, institutions & stakeholders involved, there will always be a, number of issues where the countries will not see eye to eye yet be forced by their greater National Interests to find a way out of those contentious isdure.

The strange thing is that in the case of USA, the ordinary American citizens like India but their government doesn't. In the case of France, the government of France is friendly and supports India but it citizens are snooty and dislike Indians.

Well, as a French guy I can tell the US are doing on a worldwide level what France is still doing in West and Central Africa since the "decolonization" : trying to keep a political, strategic and economical stranglehold on nations that should be sovereign.
