Independence Behind The Scenes | Tommy Adaptive | TOMMY HILFIGER

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

For spring 2019, Tommy Adaptive set out to create not just an inclusive collection for men, women and children, but to start a revolution. This campaign truly represents the one in five Americans that identify with a disability, as well as the community that supports them. From the clothes and our models to our director and his crew, the inclusion revolution was at the heart of this shoot. Filmmaker James Rath led the team with his innovative approach to storytelling. The fact that he is legally blind gave him not just a unique perspective, but the experience to build a narrative around the clothes and the talent that everyone can relate to.
Tommy Adaptive is designed with and for people with disabilities, incorporating innovative design twists that make getting dressed easier, so nothing stands in the way of you doing your thing.

Here we are a few years later, and Tommy Adaptive has given up on seated fit pants for women. They know exactly how to make the most awesome seated fit pants for women, yet they exclude us. I've called, I've written them numerous times,; I've even offered to do consulting work for them without pay -- all to no avail. Please stop calling yourselves inclusive.

I believe that people with disabilities shouldn't hate themselves for who they are, but this is plain lying when she says that it isn't a burden. Being disabled isn't a good thing it is a terrible thing with which we are finding more advanced solutions to help solve. It's like getting old you aren't able to do the things you were able to do before, and things are harder for you than it is for other people, that's why it's called a disability, because it is a natural ability you aren't able to use, hence it being called a disability because it is as if someone turned of the switch that allows you to walk, breathe normally, move, see, hear, etc.

Being disabled can be hugely burdensome for many people, but it's neutral or even positive for many others. For example, some congenital amputees don't feel limited by their limb differences because they've grown up doing things in different ways and couldn't imagine having "normal" hands/legs etc. Many people with learning disabilities also have unique skills as a result of their disabilities, and those outweigh the difficulties. Personally, I enjoy being autistic despite the communication and sensory struggles because it gives me a unique focus and perspective of the world.
