This is wrong and completely miss leading. My 7th Great Grandfather Was a Scottish jacobite. He was taken prisoner by the English. Put on a ship and sent to Jamestown and sold into servitude. He never signed any contracts. He was not given anything. What little he got. Needed to survive. He was changed for. In the forum of years added to his time. He was 14 when he arrived. He never escaped servitude. His children born while he was in servitude were in turn forced into indentured servitude. Non of them ever received any land

This left out more than it tells about indentured servants and how they became servants

Are you a little simple or is this only for children! Indentured servitude and Indenture apprenticeship were completely separate from the majority of the white slaves or indentured Servants as you like to call them. They only stopped using them just before or just into WW1. Following that they got going all over again snatching lids off the streets and calling them endangered, working with Social Services and orphanages like Dr Bernardo's to supply child Farm labourers to Australia and Canada. I should know the only reason I wasn't one of them was I bite, Kick vital areas and punch the same plus I ran every morning as part of my Judo Training, I was about 13 as I remember. I ran straight to my friend's houses and told their parents, a large group had gathered at the nick, but to no avail, they fought through the court system but social services stated in court that they were all unfit parents. It appeared in the Ilford Recorder in the late 60's I left School in 1968 and it was before that. Coincidently, after having our first child and I had returned to Canada from shitty England, I had moved us out to the country, better schools for my Kids, and when going for a ride on my Motorcycle to Picton, Ontario, there was a very nice but Boarded up White Manor House, just past Hwy #1 going east and just as you start to go into town. The Cop went on to explain that the place had recently been closed following a raid, and they had been found guilty of being complicit in the Kiddnapping of Poor English children and selling them for child labour, Now, I know what happened when they cleared us from the Highlands, and the Factor of the Duke of Sutherland showed up in the middle of a freezing night with some Lowland Scots Soldiers and told us to get out of our long established croft, sharp like as they started to Burn it to the Ground while we as a family had our livestock and animals shot and left to freeze to death on a cold Highland night. We two of the brothers from the Family, sold themselves into slavery in Canada with a Lumber company in Manitoba. The rest of the family scattered, but some have returned and others are still there, but they are strangers really. That's one of the better stories of the English and slave labour, still being hunted and sold as slaves, Long after they spent all that money on stopping Black slavery with the Africa Squadron, white slaves were awaiting Transportation, in old rotting ex-slave ships and Napoleonic ships captured in the recent wars in old unseaworthy ships converted to floating Prisons tied up in every English estuary. Any little offence would land anyone as long as you were poor and over the age of about 4 years old fit for Transportation. Many died while awaiting shipment so they were thrown overboard their skeletons still wash up especially where they were Docked. Then earlier, the time you're talking about Jamestown England was awash with prisoners awaiting life sentences instead of Death for sedition, opposing the Fat German Bastard that was now sitting on the throne, instead of the rightful king, who was rejected because He was Catholic and they didn't want to take a chance on that again, so He was driven into exile and His supporters Scot's, Irish and English were rounded up, some executed as an example, and the rest were sent to your colonies as Branded slaves, and again from Scotland in 1719 and then finally those still alive in the Highlands after Culoedon Moor, and the First Clearance by another fat German Bastard the start of the German line leading to our current pile of Royal German shite. Many clearances of different clans continued most made their way out to you, but I wouldn't call them nicely names like indentured servants they were sold as slaves and lived out their lives as slaves in the slave quarters, unless lucky enough to escape those English Bastards. They sent them all as when raising regiments for the Seven Years War, or French Indian War as you know it, and then the following Napoleonic War and your War of Independence they had to press, with the press gangs going at it. Many of those men sold themselves into indentured servitude, which led to the War of 1812 when British Men Of warships were stopping any American ships and removing by Force any sailor on a US ship with a British accent and a Lashed back as deserters. Now after they had served their time again in the British Navy If released, they would have become "Indentured Servants" all over again. Are you starting to get how stupid it sounds? I can write to you if you wish as when I served my time as an Indentured apprentice Engineer, many of the old timers from the WW1 era were still around with many a tale, and as I was trained by these great men they had also been trained by old-timers who remembered another sort of Indentured apprentice that although good to be, wasn't so nice, and you could end up in all sorts of places, if unlucky.
