I think I've been following you for about a year and still had no idea that not all snakes lay eggs. Can't believe 30% of snake species don't! That's so much higher than I would've thought.

I thought childrens pythons were smaller than ball pythons. But I think it depends on the subspecies as there are some outliers

Sorry for my ignorance, but do you brumate Balls as well? Do all snakes have ro go through brumatiom to do breeding?

It’s not really necessary to brumate them. I drop the ambient temp a little in the winter but I don’t do a real brumation for them.

I didn't know snakes could give live births. That's fascinating. I'd love to see how that works. Do you have to cut the umbilical chord like a human birth or does the baby do it like they pip the egg?

Maybe a stupid question, but why does he incubate the eggs himself instead of leave them with the snake? Do they eat them otherwise? Is the temperature not good enough for eggs in the enclosure?

There are a few reasons I prefer to incubate but You can let the mother do so but in my experiences It’s easier to maintain temperature and humidity in the incubator. It reduces the chances of cold spots on the eggs and ensures a more even temperature increasing the chances of successfully hatching them.

Snakes won't eat until the eggs hatch and incubating them himself has better chance than the snake doing the job. It's better for the eggs and the snake.
