Incredibly intelligent orangutan asks visitor to share gummy snacks

Please watch: "Killer Whales In The WILD - TOP 28 Orca Encounters"
• Killer Whales In The W... -~-
Taylor and her sisters are at the orangutan exhibit at the Louisville Zoo in Louisville, Kentucky. One of the orangutans, named Amber, keeps pointing at Taylor's bag while she tries to figure out what the orangutan wants. She holds her purse closer to the window and unzips it and starts taking some of the items out. The orangutan peers inside the bag while continuing to point. Finally, Taylor pulls out a bag of fruit snacks and the orangutan looks satisfied. The orangutan points at the gummy and points at the chain link fence to communicate to Taylor to pass the snack through the fence.

That's pretty true of all the great apes. There is a great deal of cross over between our gestures and theirs. Like the classic "hold out your hand to ask for something" gesture. I've seen it in chimps and orangutans both, and even in some monkeys. But chimpanzees especially have a very complex pseudo-language of gestures. It's pretty cool to watch. They also, incidentally, make little spears and kill bush babies with them (not all; tool use among chimps is passed down via demonstration and imitation, so local populations have their own tool making and using techniques).

Also , they get to watch all the Strange Specimens of homosapiens we all are and study our captivity in Human Society such as it is.
