Mama rejects her & surrogate mum takes care of her, then mum died.. she was successfully returned to the troop... She has a happy life, 4 yrs old now.

In a way, i agree! But, most zoos operate as conservation facilities now, and are doing great things now, to help animals continue to thrive and exist!

Depends on the zoo. Some zoo's have excellent facilities for Animals and take the best care possible outside of it's natural habitat. Other Zoo's not so good.

Nora Dee oh yeah ofc when there big you should let them live in the wild but only if they were trained in whatever place they were staying at you can’t throw animals in a random environment they didn’t grow up in,in this case this is a zoo so there going to die there sadly and it wasn’t her pet it was her friends still again sad I think I general humans shouldn’t try to keep animals in zoos but only bring them to such places when they need help

No, she’s not critically ill. Her mother was not doing well after the cesarean. So they were forced to hand rear Afia.

More zoo intervention and excuses for hand-rearing. The mother gorilla although poorly, like human mothers who are ill, should not be denied their baby. Gorillas are loving parents so why haven't they taken the extra time to allow mother and baby to bond and grow together.

Cherokee Heart CT The mother was critically ill after the birth and was unable to look after the baby, improvement doesn’t mean well enough to nurse an infant and the experts obviously made the decision to look for a surrogate after hand rearing the baby initially. A few comments have stated that the mother has since died. I’m sure these decisions are never taken lightly and those involved have lots of experience.
