Formation lap actually existed in rFactor 1 you just had to change the settings. This game runs off the same engine. Sorry Codemasters this is the best F1 game of all time and its not even an F1 game lol

+kioMsU SCE was the "mod" for rFactor, for Automobilista they bought the rights to modify the engine aswell as get some new car licenses. So Reiza is no longer being limited by the engine, they can do whatever they want with it. :P

Nictavius Mods that are converted from rFactor to Gamestockcar work! Tracks work really well but cars can be a bit difficult.

anyone realize that this game use the real helmet for the driver for example I. Rodrigues helmet is clearly base of Alonso helmet from 2003-2006

+Francisco Sampaio yup thats it. The V10 had this option available in real life, thats why it is an INDEPENDEND setting in the garage. You can also toggle traction control and abs there.

+ghostrider13bg It's a brazilian company called Reiza which formed out of rfactor modders. And I do not believe that they even have close as much recources as codemaster does. The fact is, codemasters aims the titles to a different audience.

Well f1 from that Era still had automatic transmission allowed.. Therefore you have this option in AMS and you can turn it off in first garage menu

If you go on the Race Department site,they have the Nurburgring and Monza tracks as mods for AMS.They are all done to a high standard by a guy called Patrick Giranthon.Spa has also been added now.

Can you play this again but in the 1988 McLaren MP-4/4? That car is legendary!

its in the car setup menu under electronic aids, chand the shifting to off, you can also adjust the TC. These cars in real life had the ability to auto shift and had TC so Riza studious programmed that in.

To fix the gears, go into the main car set-up page, under the heading "electronic aids", turn off auto shifting. Also, you can use the launch control for these cars, so map that button for standing starts.

The V12 cars are by far the best sounding in this game.

To have no auto gearing you need to disable it in the car setup as well, took me a while to figure out yesterday. Oh and you have the aggression high, so they turn in on you more.

In that car icon (it was called garage1) is Electronic AIDS - auto shift mode - there you can switch automatic gearbox off, as well as TC.

once you get used to the game I bet it will be even more fun. hope to see more of this!!! I'm loving it MR. Daly!

You can disable the automatic upshift in the setup screen. It's in the "electronic aids" part. 4:21 bottom left. Put "Auto Shift Mode" to off.

+CultOfRevan98 More specifically, Stock Car Extreme. Reiza took all of Stock Car Extreme's content and just renamed it AMS, while adding a few new things like a somewhat dynamic track and flat spotting the tires. This is hardly Earl Access. It's like if F1 2016 were to release as Early Access.

Awesome video man! Really enjoyed it. Would love to see the Super Trucks at Salvador against 9 - 12 AI. Just a recommendation: practice the jumping before recording the video, it needs some timing to break just right infront of the ramp and the accelerate off it again to land as straight as possible. Also: The V12 sound also extremely incredible. Oh and mods will be coming to Automobilista (at racedepartment com)

The auto gears is an electronic assist on the car itself, you turn it off in the car setup area

Ben, the auto gearbox was in most of the f1 cars back then. You can turn it off in the setup menu

I can't believe I'm watching the entire vid and actually rooting for you to win the race which is a first actually. every other time on other peoples videos i will just go "meh"

For the record: this sim uses a modified version of the rFactor engine.

Nutelko8 It was the next F1 I had since F1 97 and it was the shit: commentary from James and Martin, driver customisation, increased likeliness of the AI retiring, and mid-season testing where you could sign a test driver contract instead of a racing seat, and there was the potential that your successful tests could buff the car for the race weekend.

the auto up shift thing is only on this v10 cars I think.. and you can set it up or off in the car setup there you can choose auto up auto down or no auto shifting at all

As others have said , the up shifting has to be turned off in the garage, but FYI, real F1 cars of ~2002 had automatic up shifts, and it's really easy to find videos of it in action.

Auto shift is in the Garage set up screen as is abs and tc.

If anyone noticed, there was the Interlagos circuit sponsors (Petrobras) billboard's at the Austrian circuit

Your mechanical grip and cornering for turn one will need to adjusted for in your set up menu. Springs, suspension, balance, even down to tyre pressures make a massive difference. This SIM (definitely not a game) was bred from Game Stock Car. You made a good purchase.

I believe that in pre-2003 F1 there were automatic upshifts, just check out the montoya seatswap, I believe it is explained there

You're losing your rear because you're shifting down to first on a second-gear corner.

Ben the reason the AI aren't giving you space is because a) you have the aggression on high, which you can change, or b) you aren't far enough alongside to make a move. Unlike f1 2015 you can't make dive bombs and if you do, make sure you're right alongside them. Once you find the sweet spot I can guarantee the AI is amazing.

@Tiametmarduk Have you considered to play the oldschool Grand Prix 3 and 4? They have (afaik) mods for the current seasons. Both games are from Microprose and where released somewhere in the early 2000's!

in f1 2006 there was a formation lap too that was so cool

I got confused about the auto upshifts as well, but soon figured out it's in the setups. Why? Because these cars actually had an electronic up-shift aid, I didn't even know. :P

How is the steering wheel t150 in this game and did you buy addons for the wheel?

Under the car setup is another section for assists. It's confusing not sure why it defaults to on but that era of f1 did have the option for automatic upshifts which is why it appears. I don't think any team ever actually used it lol. Also might wanna try putting the AI aggression down for open wheelers.

You can disable the auto shifting on the individual car setup screen - because Formula 1 cars from this era did have auto shifting built into them. Same with the traction control; even if you disable it in the difficulty section you'll need to disable it in this car's specific setup screen as again, cars from this era had traction control.

Try the Buenos Aires n12 configuration if its possible. Great track

You need to turn the individual aids off in the electronic aids section of the car setup menu, also change your force feedback from -100 to 100 if you haven't already :) And the ai are lots better in a closed cockpit car like the stockcar v8

This game looks pretty good! As well as newer F1, could you consider doing Stock Car Brasil/TC2000 races? They're V8 touring cars so may be similar to your V8 Supercars!

2 tipps: You need to disable auto-up-shifting in the setup settings. And lower the aggression of the AI.

Btw, this game uses the engine from rFactor 2 (or 1, im not too sure there). Hence why there are so many options, formation laps, etc. Which I dont blame them for getting the license to the engine / game. Its really good

It's basically still just rFactor 1 on steroids. Imo, rFactor 2 is the way to go nowadays for proper race simulation, especially in terms of the physics!

You should try the F1 2005 mod for Race Injection, then you will see what lack of mechanical grip is like.

This Setup screen is definitely NOT what Codemasters needs. Way to complex for a casual game. What they need is a good game when it goes to the basics (career, rules, saftey car, multiplayer and so on) :P

Ben, the game is brazilian. The tracks/names that you don't know are a bunch of brazilian tracks and cities. You can put the game's name on google translate and put it in portuguese, you will get the procunciation just right. Btw, that sound blew my mind too. Cheers!

I'm pretty sure they were running automatic gearboxes with manual downshift during most of the v10 era. I think it was banned in 2004 if I remember correctly.
