I like micro adjustment on clasp more than fly adjust clasp. The fly adjust clasp makes the clasp long 😅😅

Well, afaik Baltany and San Martin have the same OEM: Fuzhou Astra . So if Baltany wants to they can always release a model with SM level of finishing. It's just a question of market positioning with price levels. I saw the vintatge dial is also available in the 36mm version and the listing says it's a new 2024 release. So it should also use the new case, right? No polished mid links on that.

Thanks Gary. I'm currently saving up for this watch , the 36mm as you have reviewed. I love this style, love the original Rolex offering and this definitely ticks the boxes.

This is hard to explain but female end links really done right means they are need a conical profile with the thicker end towards the watch case. So they can swivel downwards but not upwards, which prevents these marks from ocurring.

What a brilliant watch with the best case size. Unfortunately I have had enough of inaccurate auto mechanical watches so I just have to hope they add a quartz option someday.

I'll buy one when they make it 39mm. They had a nice purple quartz one at 39mm but it got discontinued (and the movt wasnt a good one).

Baltany are my favorite Alibrand as they do inspired vision better than the rest. Their original bronze retro diver is my favorite Aliwatch. Wish this exploring watch here had different hands (either baton or syringe) so it would look less homagy

I would consider it if the lume was white instead of faux vintage yellow.

I bought one recently. I was searching for many months to buy an explorer homage watch. I am quite happy with my purchase. I believe, it has the best quality and it has attention to detail compare to all the other explorer homages out there. I'd preferred the watch to have white lume and on the fly adjustment bracelet, but it would loose its personality. It is a modern explorer with vintage vibes.

Got this one with brown dial, and cant put other watch on my wrist since this one arrived :D

My only issue with the finishing is the radial brushing on the top of the lugs as opposed to vertical brushing to match the bracelet. Kills it for me

Agree, Alpha does exactly the same and I always assumed it must be a reference to the originals but can't see anything to back that up. Looks bad imo!

Should note, the larger version has been upgraded to the same specs (I've bought one recently). It has fully brushed bracelet, signed crown and is essentially now just a larger version of the one here.

Nice watch and nice review, looks like a qulity homage. The Aliexpress sales are a mine field, put SNO132 into my basket £144 was there for 4 days price went up and down ended up £139. The SNO118 is cheaper now than in the sale because in the sale, the tax was added. Now, in bigsave there is no tax. So misleading.

She's a beauty. The polished links killed it for me though. Now they just need to offer a OTF clasp.

Have just bought this watch with the brown dial I am not disappointed at all for £165.00

I have an Oriente from the late 70´s that looks almost the same.

the 39 is now being sold with a fully brushed bracelet. It says in the description that "The central connecting part of the steel bracelet shown in the image is a polished surface. Now, the entire bracelet of all products has been upgraded to a brushed surface, making it more scratch-resistant."

Ive been wanting to get this watch in 39 to 40 mil size. Driving me crazy. Havent been able to free up funds for it......

This one is too small, but I got the larger version which it is excellent as well. I don’t think the smaller one could be significantly better.

It's so odd to own a different brand's homage to the same Explorer. At $200-ish dollars, the Baltany is about $400 less expensive than my Steinhart Ocean Adventure 39. While I haven't had the Baltany in hand, I do wonder if the $400 difference primarily comes down to movement (Elabore SW200-1 vs. NH38). And IF you get a banger NH3x, it's a solid watch...if you get a marginal NH3x, you're stuffed.

I would say yes! The Elabore SW200-1 is going to contribute significantly to the price difference.

Nice review and nice watch but I feel like you rushed through the beginning of the video too fast. What about that nice looking watch roll that comes with the watch. I wish you had spent a little more time showing that. It looked very nice.

Check out the Octopus Kraken OCT-0013. It's basically a more modern and "faithful" homage without fauxtina, with similar finishing, thinner case, thinner bezel and PT5000.

The bezel is too large and I would the thickness to be under 12 mm. Overall I prefer the Octopus kraken execution of this homage (thinner, PT5000/SW200 movement, no faux patina).

the trouble with this watch is that while I not a fan of homage watches,but this is beautiful and that leaves me torn between buying and not buying. I,m sure that there is still a lot of '' cheap nasty chinese crap '' out there but it seems to me that some of the chinese watch industry is raising the standards by leaps and bounds

Who likes Fauxtina? I just don't get it.

It's just such a pity these things come out in such uninspired designs. If this had any creative clout, I might cave some day and at least give this a try for the money.

36mm ... great ladies watch.

That watch is flatout ugly & cheap looking; just being honest. If someone wants a beater that they can travel with or just wear without a care to damage, then all good. I’d personally spend a little more coin & grab a Seiko, Orient, Citizen, or Tissot for that purpose.
