Incredible Story of Missing Treasure in California that has never been found!

Ойын-сауық

This is a story of a missing treasure in California. In 1856 four outlaws commanded by the notorious "Rattlesnake Dick," robbed a stagecoach of $80,600 in gold. Unable to tow all of the gold, half was buried in the Trinity Mountains in California by the leader of the outlaws. During their escape, the leader was gunned down. Being the only man that knew where the gold was when he died, the location of the buried gold died with him.

I have found many documents and stories about this particular story.. The trinity mountains are 200 plus miles from folsom. The gold was stolen somewhere around grass valley. I have studied this for years because I found a marker in the auburn hills that had the name cyrus on it. I thought that was a weird name to be etched in this area, so when I googled cyrus their story came up. Not sure why rattlesnake didn't etch his name. Cyrus was caught stealing horses in the folsom area. The shootout was in the auburn area. They keep saying trinity which is where I believe the gold was mined. They were bringing fresh stolen horses up the hill from folsom to auburn hills when they got caught, not 200 miles up to Trinity. I followed the trails of where they would have ridden from grass valley through auburn and it is right where I found the marker. Did not find the gold, I assume it was dug in a deep hole. My metal detector only goes down about a foot. Spent a long time looking for it and I believe I know the area within about 50 yards square. Someday I may invest in a deep scanner. I believe it would be about 1,250-2000 oz of gold.

That's an interesting take but the gold was taken from stage that ran between the yreka mine and Weaverville area. Lots of hard mountain terrain that direction. Why wouldn't it be closer to yreka? Love to hear more.

Ok,let me start by saying this about Henry Plummer. One of the most evilest men to walk on American soil. He was a corrupt sheriff and lawman in Banack Montana that stole millions and millions of dollars in gold from the Miners in Idaho at the time Plummer was a Sheriff. For roughly 7 years Henry Plummer stole this gold and hid behind the scenes being such a evil Sheriff that was finally identified and hung for all his crimes with killing miners and stealing alot of gold. The famous Plummer Gang supposedly stole roughly 13 million dollars in gold from all the miners between Banack and Virginia City. Guys there is soo much gold out there between these 2 little towns still just waiting to be found due to Plummer's hideing place. I don't know why the state of Idaho has not tried looking for it because the value of the treasure that he and his gang hid is more than $40 to $70 million dollars now. He proclaimed it on his death minute while being hung that if the people would just ride with him on a horse for 2 hours he would show them where the gold was and that he'd render to anything they asked of him. The posse put him to death by hanging right there. For me guys it ain't about that gold IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ADVENTURE IN FINDING IT. IF any of you want to partner up to try to find it i'm all for it because I have the technology to find gold in the ground with gold scanner that can find gold up to 2 miles in radius from the scan. It's definately worth looking for. Like I said it's all about the Adventure trying to locate it and not the gold it's self.

Sounds good. You should also look up the story from O'Brien Oregon. Bunch of thieves stole a few hundred pounds of gold and only made it 5 miles out of town before the town folk got em but they had hidden the gold to escape faster. It was never found

Rattlesnake, Richard Barter, really deserves to be inducted to the "Criminal Hall of Fame", recognizing his outstanding talents in/for "Burgularly and Larceny" and "Escape Artist"

You should really research this story a little bit more. The stage was the nevada city to sacramento stage the golds destination was the sanfransisco mint and it was trinity mountain not the trinity mountains. The reason it's been all twisted up over time is because places names have changed. Also you should look up the semi recent story of some individuals digging up an old well and finding some treasure in between nevada city and auburn. The state archives can clarify some things on this story reading it out of a lost treasure book you'll find 15 different stories. Also rattlesnake bar is named after rattlesnake dick. There is a reason there are some things to find there as well. 😉😉😉

Oh and the actual location of the mountain that was once called trinity mountain or Mount trinity has been lost over time it wasn't mapped but if you can follow the wells Fargo stage route you can figure it out. The biggest clue you have is trinity. Just beyond the trinity is supposed to be where the robbery took place.

Only hunt treasures that are documented through government and court records. Do not trust new and old newspaper articles on lost treasure because of sensationalism used and made up facts that secure the wages earned from the articles. Never trust word of mouth treasures that are usually lies that circulate around gaining momentum with turning into a treasure story that evolves into exaggeration as it is told mouth to mouth.
