Incredible Sound of World's Largest Commercial Jet Engine GE90 - Close Spool Up - Manchester Airport
Фильм және анимация
TURN UP YOUR VOLUME and listen to the immense sound of the worlds largest commercial engine spooling up and roaring as it powers this Etihad B777-300 down runway 23L at Manchester.
In 1995, the GE90 engine debuted aboard a British Airways 777 airplane along with commercial aviation’s first-ever carbon-fiber composite fan blades. Early GE90 engine models boasted outputs between 74,000 and 94,000 lbs. of thrust, and today it remains the world’s largest turbofan engine.
During certification testing in 2002, the GE90-115B engine set a world-record 127,900 lbs. of thrust.
This spotting location at Manchester offers spectacular views along with incredible sound as aircraft spool up just metres away from you!

To this day it's still hard to believe how much bigger they are then the rest. When you get one crossing on screen it's like WAIT A MINUTE..........!
It’s a miracle that 70 tons can get up into the air...and stay there😃👍🏾...These machines command and deserve respect which makes them fascinating✈️👍🏾

horse power in fan/jet engine is not relevant, thrust is only measure of strenght/power of jet/fan engines
4 жыл бұрын
You guys are correct that planes do use lbs of thrust ,but there is a calculation that can be used to calculate the equivalent horse power If you had to accelerate 275 tons up to 180 mph in 25 seconds down a runway or less you would need around 200,000hp

Ikr. Good eye, bro. It’s probably the best finish I’ve ever seen on a jet plane. Ever.
I worked at the Evendale, Ohio GE aircraft engine manufacturing plant back in the 1980's. Our unit use to broach cut the slots in the high and low pressure disks that the turbine blades attach to. It was quite an operation for sure.

Jet planes are truly amazing, but given the seemingly countless amount of moving parts, I think it’s insane that so many people casually fly in them all day everyday. You couldn’t pay me to get on a plane unless it’s very small and has parachutes. LoL.

Nothing compared to the spooling of a classic Boeing 707! I will never forget that sound as long as I live, having flown to Europe on TWA, Pan-Am, Sabena, and Olympic Airways Boeing 707's 'back in the day'!

I work for an oil company. The oil rigs are fitted with GE gas turbines only for electric power generation. GE products are very trustworthy, efficient and robust. I also recall my 30-year old GE fridge still functioning despite all punishment it stood such as power surges and scorching summers.

It's the power in that throttle control,,, those huge engines that are placed so independent from anything else,, and the sheer force produced that is required to make these huge vehicles fly that is so alluring 😝✌️

Personally I prefer the sound you get when you're taking off in a 717 with this sound a close second. I dont know much about planes, being only 15 and all, but I just think they're cool so I watch these videos sometimes lmao
My dad worked in Airports authority of India. So I was born in hearing these aircraft sounds right from my childhood days. My favourite aircraft Boeing 747

My recollection of the diameter of this engine cowling from a tour of the Boeing large aircraft facility was that it was the same size as that of the fuselage of a 737. That in itself is truly amazing. Neat video, thanks!
I do like this livery for Etihad. Looks retro yet modern
Those are some really big engines.
OMG! That is huge. I love to see them take off and land, but you een ga get me to go on that.
