I always smile at the wood snob comments. Then I go outside and split spruce because that is the tree I needed to drop

True, that. Out back is a giant pile of years old, disreputable looking silver maple, box elder, and spruce. Barks coming off, all grey, some shrooms, you know the drill. All spalted inside too. You split it, and its burnable in a day or two, sometimes hours. Still solid. Awesome for campfires or initial fire lays. The neighborhood grump calls it "JUNK!!". I just laugh. Okay buddy... Makes splitting and burning it more fun, knowing how the snobs think, lol.

@@InTheWoodyard LOL!!
Being in rural colorado mountains. I dont even understand face cord, its a pickup load or is 1/3 of true cord, face cord has not anything to do with a "cord". And sellers purposely use face cord so to confuse and jack up prices. Here in colorado we buy and use per cord, a full true cord delivered is $200, un bucked unsplit $150, peak winter is $250-$300. But most people dont buy from a dealer . They just get own from their Property or get a forest permit to pull out junk trees for firewood. Many people have too many downed trees they just give away trees and rounds of firewood for free. So it's hard for dealers even have a business in colorado
@InTheWoodyard

I sell a lot of quantities but I ran my numbers a few times over the years and here they are ....1/4/ of the people buy one face cord (1/3 cord) 1/4 buy 2 face cords 1/4 buy 3 and the other 1/4 buy 4-12 and a few 20-30 face cords....the overall average is 2.5 - 3 face cords or about a full cord + -

What do you think about using full totes as the walls and just pallets on the ground in between the wall of the toes? I was thinking I could go 2 totes high to make a huge bin and when it’s time to sell it I’ll take a few of the totes away to make an easy opening to get into the bin. What do you think? I’m a little worry about air flow.
