At a time when decarbonisation, emissions control and reducing the weight of vehicles and other plant to help achieve improvements in fuel economy while still maintaining performance, life expectancy and compliance with safety criteria, there is an ever increasing need of and searching for how to reduce the weight of castings.
This technical lecture on the increasing need for lightweight castings and the role the ADI process has to play, was delivered by Dr Arron Rimmer of ADI Treatments to the West Midlands, Birmingham & Coventry Branch of the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers in November 2021. It demonstrated the technical nature of the process and what could be achieved to deliver positive outcomes for customers and to help the foundry industry continue to be relevant as we progress through the 21st century and towards net-zero.
