Virtual reality an awesome tool for education! I wish my child could go to a school with tech-savvy guys like you Mfon.

To teach kids what can be done with AI, versus just showing them what it does is so important. Education should always be exploring. Very good talk.

we waste time on score subjects, math for example that kids will use a calculator for in their future, but this, gateway to the future is ignored. Good talk.

I love his ending, pretty much proof how much VR will help any facet of society " I am not a tech expert, or a computer programmer, I'm an accounting professor" if he can see the need for this tech in education, we should all see it!

I get excited about the future for of my kids and any one who wants to learn. Can't wait for the opportunity.

A much needed conversation! Many of my friends who are teachers have been discussing exactly this for a few years now - most of us are such practical learners, virtual reality would be such a saving grace for so many!!

Virtual reality, great stuff. I would like to see us handle reality a bit better.

The mind doesn't really know what real and what's not, based on this it's how we create our reality

Sounds perfect for learning and certainly a more positive outcome for experiential learning.

slowly but surely it will become more accessible! i just wish the process would hurry, it would help so many people!!

I'm all for this. We could do so much more for our youth if we could create more immersive learning spaces. Especially considering how we have come to realise that the way in which we've been teaching for a long time has almost been counter-productive for most people.

Hands on approaches in everything area of our lives help us to wire our brain appropriately. I can only imagine how much more astute we would be as a species

Great idea for VI in the classroom, we could use a whole new revamp of the education system.

Air planes and cars, innovations of the past. I'm curious what VI looks like and where it takes us in just 5 years from now.

I really hope this man received some funding, as he stated, accessibility is the tough part ....

Kids need new outlets to grow their minds, this is a good one!

I think if we could engulf ourselves as such, it would definitely be something for the neuroplasticity of the brain, surely it would help with how our brains are wired.

Technology, is our tool, and we need new tools to teach better. Agree Mfon, great talk!

Thank you Mfon for the hard work gendered in this lecture. I agree that VR is going to allow students to collaborate, disseminate and develop advancements in our society that will bring us closer to singularity in a fraction of the time that is an occurring now. Again, Thank you

Clever talk, though I do have concerns about ethics in some of the potential usage for AI, and I have huge concerns over the people with the money paying for it!

Embodied learning, the equipment might have changed though I am an experiential learner where I learn by doing, touching and feeling. Put me at a desk and tell me to follow instructions is a motivation killer.

Yes, that's the same question I might have for Amazon's Jeff Bezoff and the U.S Postal Service. One might think when your company is reliant on the parcel delivery, you might invest a little.

This what I'm gonna do...this is my dream!

To implement new technology could be costly, and to implement in public schools I'm pretty sure it will takes years or even decades. Who knows schools as we know them may all be virtual experiences and children connect socially for different reasons. Like learning care and kindness instead of competing.

Watching this video in 2021, and now that the Quest 2 is $300 and incredibly powerful, there is no better time to implement VR in the classroom. Edit: Also, that Hydrogen One comment is lookin' awful funny from the future lol

Mfon I'm filling out a grant to get VR for my students, but not sure which one to apply for any ideas?

I think we begin to lose the basics of education when we attempt top bring new technologies to classrooms at the peril of Maths, English etc.

I think if they are utilized with the user and goals in mind, they can be invaluable. If we are just incorporating them for the sake of having 'high tech', then I completely agree. UX is a big part of this

What are you on about? There is plenty of content here, the guy is a Professor talking about how virtual reality can be utilized to help people learn in a more immersive way, which would effectively make their education more efficient. He also goes on to talk about how supply and demand makes VR headsets more expensive, but even in the last 2 years they've dropped in prices dramatically because of awareness and people purchasing - making it almost possible to entertain the idea that we could actually fund this for schools. IT IS ALL CONTENT! THERE ARE NO BUZZ WORDS OR HYPE. Sheesh.
