INCIDENT at the NEW Bonner Bridge Pier

Спорт

Come along for a beautiful morning of Outer Banks Fishing! We will explore the Bodie Island Lighthouse and the new Bonner Bridge Pier at Oregon Inlet. With that many lines in the water, there are bound to be some "incidents," but I think I made the best of it!
My friend Titus's channel I mention in the video:

    Well Randy, I always want Your Next Cast to be your best cast and glad you kept at it. You were crushing flounder though. Got some nice ones. Kind of you to move away from the other lines. I would have done the same. I don't want to be 'that guy' either. I appreciate the shout out. Great video.

    Thank you, Titus! I know you would have moved away, too, and perhaps you helped influence my calm demeanor and quick decision to do the right thing. I say "perhaps" since I don't remember if it was part of my conscious thought, but as you see in this video just a short time later, the concept of Your Next Cast is definitely something I think about subconsciously. And thank you for that!!!

    The skunk is off when you catch that first fish, even if you change locations, that sounds official to me, haha. You did one of those telephone cast, had someone on the other line, Lol. Glad you got that keeper Trout in all that Flounderfest.

    Telephone cast! I'm cracking up, Russell!😂 And I agree with you about the skunk being off after the first fish. Another person basically said the same as well. He thought that unless you go out on a boat, come back do something else, and then go out on a totally different fishing trip (go surf fishing at the beach, for example), the skunk is removed after the first first fish and you are good for the rest of the day. Sounds good to me!

    To your question, the skunk is fully transferable. Once the skunk has been rinsed, it remains so for the rest of the day. BTW, I need some fluke (flounder)fishing tips from you. You seem to have them really dialed in!

  • @fatherandsonsfishing

    @fatherandsonsfishing

    I like the your thinking regarding the skunk policies! In terms of the fluke secret, here's what's always worked for me: Go out and target trout and drum WHEN FLUKE AREN'T IN SEASON, and you should have good luck catching fluke. Doing the same thing, or even targeting fluke specifically, while fluke are IN SEASON has never really yielded good results for me.😂

    Gorgeous sunrise like that makes the day right off the bat for me .I say the skunk is off once you catch the first fish of the day. It was a Flounder Fest, too bad the season is so short down there. So I’d say that the dreaded Lizard fish would be comparable to pickerel for me even kinda shaped the same, except I dare say you won’t see me sticking my finger in a pickerel’s mouth. Great day Randy and the fishing is always better when you get away from the crowds.

  • @fatherandsonsfishing

    Crowd-less fishing is always the way to go! Before this current newer version of the pier opened, there was a public catwalk on the bridge, but it didn't draw nearly as many folks as I saw there this fall. Maybe I can figure out how to move all the lizard fish over to that side so I can focus on something better? And no doubt about lipping a pickerel. The lizard fish, while they do tear up soft plastic lures, don't have quite as ferocious of a bite as a pickerel, or a blue fish if you're talking saltwater. Blue fish are nasty. I have never seen a fish so aggressively try to turn itself and bite you after you pick it up out of the water. You ain't ever gonna see a blue fish lipping hold on this channel!

  • @bucktalesoutdoors7566

    @bucktalesoutdoors7566

    You ain’t kidding Randy, anyone who tries to lip a Bluefish is gonna learn real quick that’s a bad idea. Their teeth are almost like a piranha’s and you’re also right about them tryin to turn and get ya. Have caught several while fishing for Stripers and hate dealing with them and have come away bleeding more than once and not by intentionally lipping. Some people actually eat them but to me they’re greasier than a mackerel, but then again some people like mackerel. Not for me.

    The skunk attaches once per continuous fishing session, generally per day. The exception would be if you went flounder fishing on a boat in the morning, came home & cleaned up, and then took your surf rods to the beach for stripers at night. In that case the skunk can reattach to the nighttime session. 🦨
