To see other skilled tradesmen truly care about solving the client's issues and go the extra mile like you did by adding that extra catch basin and not "pocketing the extra" is a wonderful thing to see. Shawn your work is top notch and honest. Wish you, your team and family all the best in the New Year.

One of the best investments ive made was one of those sewer jetter hoses for a pressure washer. I used to have issues with drains backing downstairs in my house and after hiring a plumber a few times, enough was enough. What was truly shocking was the sheer volume of "debris" that builds up in the pipes over the years. Everyone always blames the toilets but what surprised me was how much buildup was caused by the laundry. All that fine fiberous stuff slowly accumulates into literal bricks of fiber that plug everything up.

Yes Sierra! I worked for a few years as an aquatic ecologist and my specialty was identifying benthic macroinvertebrates (bugs that live in the stream bottom). I also did my master's work in community ecology and climate change using insect communities. 👍

Shawn you’re brilliant man as a plumber in the commercial industry I’ve done tons of drainage outdoors and now I’m on my own with my own company it’s amazing to see there’s good guys out there that understand hydro mechanics like you do I get into it a lot around here with landscapers and other drainage companies that build disaster after disaster especially the burrito wrapped French drains to name one lol keep it up

Filter fabric works great. You just have to find the brands that work well. Dude, even the DOT uses it. But ya, I certainly agree that most companies do not do good drainage work.

@@a80286b lol the dot isn’t the greatest branch in the world also u can use filter fabric I didn’t say that I actually Do usually line the bottom Of the French drain with fabric so silt doesn’t climb up into the French drain piping holes but a full burrito wrap Is a waste

Shaw, I really interesting, educational and entertaining video. Thanks! And please do not be afraid to repeat stuff you probably have repeated a lot in the previous videos you have made. Stuff like "water want to flow downhill", and "you never ever want water flowing to the house". It really adds to your videos when you point out these principles.

I had a pet Millipede as a kid (About the size of a Cigar) - they make surprisingly good pets, and are great for the soil if you're gardening! They do love sweet fruits and veggies - anything they can find rotting on the ground. Melon rinds were my Millipede's favorite dish.
