Inalienable Rights: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Belonging: Terrell Strayhorn at TEDxColumbus

When you consider that in Columbus nearly 140,000 residents are college students, there is a hope that they are successful in school, graduate and get a job. But taking a multi-dimensional look at that "success" part, Dr. Strayhorns' research reveals a fundamental need of the student. And it isn't tied so much to good grades or money.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I heard him speak in Dayton a few days ago. He is, by far, one of the best speakers I have ever heard in the field of education and social awareness.

I heard him minister at a church in Cleveland! What an awesome testimony he has! The professor, the preacher, the musician and the comedian all wrapped up into one! Truly a strong soul!

Well done! Dr Strayhorn's inspirational talk is grounded in a rich body of excellent research by Strayhorn himself! As he jokes, he's a man of small stature...but he has a very big mind and an even larger heart!

So true, a longing to belong is in all of us! When we love and accept people despite our differences we can be enriched. But when don't love enough to confront each other in love about poor choices we make, I believe that is a mistake. Speak the truth in Love-

Pursuit of belonging? It’s the pursuit of happiness which is defined as owning property. Also, it’s UNalienable rights.

The point of the talk is that belonging should be a human right, changing happiness to belonging was intentional. And 'inalienable' and 'unalienable' are interchangeable.

College (today) is overrated... however, education/knowledge and wisdom is vital to life, liberty, and property (pursuit of happiness). Graduates are saddled with debt and a poor education. KZread is full of videos from millionaires that didn't go to college and advise against it. These millionaires advise learning on your own. According to Southern Baptist statistics, almost 75% of Christian youth "lose" their faith by the end of the first year of college because of doubts from fallacious arguments posed by liberal, leftest, anti-Christ professors . (An indictment of parents and pastors to adequately prepare youth to defend their faith against arguments with false presuppositions, erroneous facts and faulty logic). This speaker is part of the problem ...not the solution. Different = Deficient when "different" is destructive to Biblical principles, governments instituted by God such as "Marriage b/t a man and woman", Church, and Civil govt.
