    brennan and ally's friendship is so special to me, he's like a scientist trying to delve into their mind and find out what makes them tick. this clip and also "you know what i like about you brennan?" "what's that" "we're always fighting the church, and that means a lot to me" are two of my favorite of their interactions. it's like brennan's chaos just balances out and becomes milder as it encounters ally's wildly different, more unorganized chaos

At least that's what comes to mind for me. Pair that with some developed shoulders and you got a look that is both masculine, and suggests the voluptuousness that is associated with fecundity. Not sure that exactly matches Alley's vision or that "masculine fertile" is how I'd put it, but I get the imagery. To me linebacker shoulders and guitar hips would be Amazonian. But if you focus more on the shoulders and less on, say the bust or developed chest muscles, and still focused on the glutes, hips, thighs, maybe that would be the look Alley is describing, and it wouldn't be far off.

    ENCYCLOPEDIA (Medium: Success) - My understanding is that “submissive and breedable” was a mainstay of pregnancy kink search terms that got tongue-in-cheek reclaimed and then blew up out of context as a copypasta meme. Usually it’s used for cis men as a semi-ironic twist on Twitter affirmations about normalizing non-heteronormative gender roles (c.f. “normalize platonically calling your bros submissive and breedable,” contra less absurd affirmations like “normalize platonically telling your bros you love them”). It kinda morphed into a funnier way of saying “hot.” But I’m sure plenty of subby dudes actually quite like being called these things in the right contexts.

    Wait question how is being Perceived as masc and respecting your body mutually exclusive?

  • @emilysmith2965

    @emilysmith2965

    Жыл бұрын

    They’re not, but they’re frequently not found together. They said “respecting my AFAB body,” not just “respecting my body.” As in, many people who are AFAB are either cis women or trans men, in which case these two conditions do not occur together. Cis women are fine with being AFAB but do NOT generally wish to be perceived as masc. Some cis women are butch and that’s a notable exception, but arguably they’re also going for “masculine fertile” despite not being trans. Trans men obviously want to be perceived as masc and ALSO they do not try to hold onto an AFAB birth gender or necessarily want their bodies to stay medically the same in any way. So it’s not the most common combination in the world to be somewhat okay with externally female biology and a birth assignment of “you are girl” but still not want to be perceived as femme at all. That’s fairly uncommon among both trans and cis people.

    Yes, while it did originate in the 1933 film Duck Soup, Harpo also reprised his role in the mirror scene playing opposite Lucille Ball in a 1955 episode of I Love Lucy. Also, it was Harpo Marx not Chico Marx oh my GOD >:(

    Ally says this about themself, but I’m sitting here like, “wait, is this why I, a cis female, find some men attractive in a gay way?”

    I don't have the context of this... Lars. The only character/being that i know that has that name is the hot mess of steven universe. And when Ally coined it "masculine fertile". Thought qbout this asian looking androgyness(?) Girl cutting from the geek college student look to just shirtless flexing and damn she was clearly defined and also had great skin

    Are people really equating body type with gender identity? Do... Do they know that those things are unrelated. Ones your physical appearance, ones how your biological sex interacts with the function of society.

    Your physical appearance definitely informs your personal experience of gender expression. Buff dude vs skinny dude vs heavy dude are three drastically different experiences of masculinity

  • @alexanderchippel

    @@hem9483 No they're not. That's completely unrelated to masculinity. Not that it matters because masculinity and femininity have absolutely no purpose in our modern society. They are expressions of one's biological sex, and that has little to do with how society functions at the moment.

    @@alexanderchippel That doesn't change the fact some body features are considered masculine or feminine. Pieces of cloth don't have inherent value but in many countries you can exchange that for genuinely valuable stuff like food and water which are needed for biological functions
