THANK YOU for being leery of tape on the drum heads. As a drummer, I can tell you it gets very frustrating that so many "audio guys" go straight to muffling the drums with tape and whatever else they can find.

this looks to be an interesting technique, one of which i have not tried myself. it would have been useful if you could have demonstrated the sound that this techniques produces!

This is an Helpful video, but i just wonder one thing and i cant seem to get the answer... What is the difference for the sound between having the microphone going through the porthola and then just lying inside the drum and when its on a stand, peeking into the porthole?
