In the Studio: Eunice Parsons
"In the Studio: Eunice Parsons" brings us into the attic studio of collage artist Eunice Parsons, who at 90 (when the video was made) is making the strongest work of her long career. This video documents her unusual process of making a collage, at once both extremely spontaneous in its generation and equally methodical in its resolution. We get to see creation and destruction as she makes collages from scratch. Parsons also discusses her long journey to collage through painting and printmaking, and her love of both old and modern masters. The video ends with the reception of a solo exhibit of her work at the Helzer Gallery of Portland Community College in which many of the works documented in the video can be seen in their final form. Parsons' piercing visual intelligence as well as her lively and mischievous spirit are in abundant supply.

What a marvellous woman. So supple, even at 90, to be able to kneel on the floor and work. I hope I'm still creating at that age.
This amazing artist is now 105 years old and her work continues to be intriguingly beautiful. Thank you for making this video of her work and thank you Eunice Parsons!
I have NEVER - EVER before heard anyone speak so clearly about what makes composition work - somehow in the way she explains it gave me a missing piece and much clarity. I'm totally captivated by this woman and her spirit.
What a woman. It's wonderful to see her busy with collage in her 90's.
She's so refreshing and inspiring and gives me hope for continuing my art career at 75. Creating fills your soul and makes you happy. Doing that helps you live longer and stimulates your brain.
Superb collages. 💓.
How marvelous she is! As a collage artist myself, I appreciate seeing someone else with a great paper stash😉and it is wonderful to watch her work and get into that flow...
Just discovered in 2024 and I am inspired by Eunice. Delighted to think she is still creating in her studio today. Much gratitude for this peek into her creative mind.
I see HER and i want to create innmediately! So glad to know she's already 104. I do collage too and i keep adding images and paper pieces to my collection; i sometimes think that i have enougth paper to work till i'im get old, so i relate a lot to her :)
Very inspirational, I really want to go and tear up paper now and arrange it all ! I could watch and listen to her all day

Desde Argentina saludo y digo: genial artista! Nunca debemos perder la capacidad de jugar, si ya ocurrió debemos recuperarla, si la has dejado ir, pobre de ti, soy Raul un hombre que sigue jugando y disfrutando de mi existencia...
She is still alive at 107.
Back in kindergarten watching this
I loved this...a girl who lives for edges.

Could do without the abrasive, distracting instrumentals in the background.
I'm sorry....but the word "subtract" means to take away from...the word "abstract" means ...existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence... :)

She pronounced it wrong but she's referring to the word abstract when used as a verb rather than an adjective, with the emphasis on the second syllable rather than the first. In that sense, abstract does mean "take out, extract, remove, summarise" etc - at least according to the Oxford Dictionary :)
