In the Room with Ian Cron

Ian Cron, speaker and coauthor of The Road Back To You, has an extended dialogue with members of the Fuller community about the Enneagram, facing our shadows, and the stories we tell ourselves and others about who we are. Ian Cron was a guest speaker at Fuller’s 2019 Culture Care Week.

Great video. Thanks so much! The next instalment in Ian's memoirs should be a Book of 'Cron-icles'!

What a revealing & thought provoking discussion! Dukka - not at home - I so get that! During a depression I went through when I was 14, I remember a mantra I found myself repeating in my head over & over - "I wanna go home...I wanna go home...".

There's something in the way people talk and the sound of their voices that resonates....I have always loved Russ Hudson, the gentleness, the compassion, the humour along with Richard Rohr....I find it hard tho to listen to Ian on an ongoing basis as i find his voice and way of talking quite hard on my spirit. Yet he is great and knows a lot but there isn't the gentleness there that my soul needs.

Really good and I affirm that many can get to the middle. Many can be free, not just a few get there.

'Dukkha' etymologically comes from 'the center of a wheel being off'. It was used for what happens to a horse cart when the axis of the wheels were not at their true center - it made for a wobbly ride. This is just a beautiful mataphore, I believe, for what happens to us human beings if our center is off. We are just not well aligned, and therefore we feel we are not at home. We've put some idol in our center, or anything which is not God, and that ctreates suffering in our lives and in other's lives. It comes fairly close to the old idea of Sin, which is 'missing the mark' - being off center as well.

Who writes the questions for the enneagram tests? How many different tests are there? How are the tests graded and interpreted? How does your enneagram identity help you to love others and God? Think! Does the enneagram give Glory to Yahweh?
