FILM DESCRIPTION:
Unemployed young Irishman Gerry Conlon (Daniel Day-Lewis) gets by as a petty thief in 1970s Belfast. When local IRA leaders get fed up with him, he flees to England and meets up with his friend Paul Hill (John Lynch). On the same night that the IRA bombs a nearby pub, the friends get kicked out of their communal digs and are forced to sleep in a park. He returns to Belfast, but is arrested as the prime suspect in the bombing and imprisoned, where he spends 15 years trying to clear his name.

Also people have fairly sane reasons to like her for example her actions and victory in the Fauklands, reducing the large deficit and the complete economic turmoil in the UK what existed when she became PM and even shutting down the mines, what was probably the most infamous decision she made, had its advantages as it was bleeding out money the UK couldn't afford to keep losing and saw the end of wide scale coal mining what had horrible working conditions

@@superbananas7792 yes there was political, religious, and racial tensions going back since the Norman conquest of Ireland but still the riot police/military are in the right to disperse this violent crowd. There were peace talks between the two sides and the IRA leader even met the Queen in person even though he refused to apologize for bombing her uncle in law. There was a civil way to solve this but these people chose violence.

Not quite accurate - there are no D cell batteries loaded into the baton gun and I don't mean it runs on them. Also the RA man wouldn't stand on top of the roof as he would have been photographed multiple times, identified and then lifted for a chat with RUC special branch.

It's actually a pretty fair film about the troubles, despite the main focus being an instance of the UK messing up. Too many films on the subject are far too unbalanced. I remember an old Irish guy I was doing contract work with many years ago, basically writing off the IRA as nothing but murdering scum - an opinion he felt he had to keep to himself most of the time back in Ireland. Opened my eyes a bit

The truth is that most people in Ireland did not support the IRA when the Troubles were on. Of course, some did, perhaps with justification, but even most nationalists did not. Now that they're safely over there's this weird nostalgia about those times and the IRA from some people, especially those too young to remember them.
This is a classic in itself. I greet the people of Ireland.🇵🇱

The reason the troubles happened was loyals in northern island were under attack by home rule the reason the army went in was to protect the loyalist and hunt down the IRA for the bomings in London

trying to find that CGI... this was made in 1993 bro, CGI was no where near as strong as it is today. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was real

The blocks of flats in this scene are the old flats in Sherriff Street Dublin. I was working beside them and watched them film a lot of these scenes in the early 90's
