I LOVE THIS MOVIEEEEEEEEEEE! I've seen it half a dozen times! I don't speak nor understand a lick of Japanese! But who needs to understand the language when the acting is soooo superb, it transcends through all language barriers! :)

My mistake. It's actually a Hong Kong movie. People in China are not allowed to make films such as this one. My foreign exchange student told me so. He's from Hong Kong, and Because of him, I've learned the many differences between communist China and liberated Hong Kong.

I LOVE THIS MOVIEEEEEEEEEEE! I've seen it half a dozen times! I don't speak nor understand a lick of Japanese! But who needs to understand the language when the acting is soooo superb, it transcends through all language barriers! :)

My mistake. It's actually a Hong Kong movie. People in China are not allowed to make films such as this one. My foreign exchange student told me so. He's from Hong Kong, and Because of him, I've learned the many differences between communist China and liberated Hong Kong.

You don't need Japanese as the action is based in Hong Kong and they speak Cantonese...

Mandarin. They are migrants from Shanghai living in Hong Kong.

The migrants from Shanghai speak Shanghainese, not Mandarin. But most of the dialogue is in Cantonese as the main characters are from Hong Kong.
