I have heard all of Hamilton and most of In the Heights and I truly believe that THIS is the best song Lin has written. it's not incredibly complicated or genius... in fact if you look at the lyrics they're actually quite simple and straightforward. but the simplicity, music, harmonies, and Mandy's passion make this song. I love how she sings "I am the one who made it out!" also the faster part of the firescapes. just so much passion and beauty. 👏👏👏

This is one of my favorite songs. It is just so good and relatable.

Okay so seeing Lin singing some of the background parts here made me really emotional. He built this character from the ground up, and now he's in the background, out of sight, guiding her along and telling her to breathe. She has a path to walk, and things will get worse before they get better, but he made her and he's going to be there for her.

This song gives me GOOSE BUMPS every single time mandy sings it I sweat, this is the only song that Lin has written that gets me this riled up It's just a master piece with how simple but powerful it is I'm having feelings ahhhh

I love how the only people not singing background are Chris and the people who play Nina's mom and dad because like...Yeah. that's accurate to the characters. I hope anyone who saw the movie stumbles on this version here and sees how it should be DONE!!! Now THIS is how you connect with (and being tears to) an audience! (I don’t know if in the movie it was the actress or the director or both but this should have had everyone in the movie theater bawling but it stead it was too “lite”, IMHO)

Exactly. This was a reunion concert and they all brought the emotion and acting. Especially Mandy. The movie cutting out all the emotions of the character of Nina and Benny really took away from a decent movie. Nina is a main character, and in the movie they made her a glorified extra. It hurt me. At least I still have my bootlegs and this beautiful reunion concert.
