So his first time around, he beat Alan Disney God Menken. Then 8 years later, he beat Andrew Lloyd King Of Theater Webber. First came Shakespeare, but we're going to be known as the Lin-Manuel Miranda era. How lucky we are to be alive right now.

My jaw dropped when I saw Alan Menken. The fact that Lin beat the guy that wrote the soundtrack of my childhood is just so... I can't describe it. I am so proud of Lin and to be in the era of his work and influence, along with Alan's, is inspiring and humbling all at once. :)

Lin's success comes from: -Making up your acceptance speech -Testing out material in the white house -Carrying a little Puerto Rican flag with him wherever he goes noted

Jason Robert Brown was 28 years old when he won "Best Original Score" in 1999 for "Parade." I love LMM, I'm not trying to take the record away from him...But he shares it with someone else. (Unless you want to be super picky and go by EXACT age because JRB was 28 and 11 months, so a little older than LMM, but I think that's being a bit picky. Most of us stopped counting months when we were children. LOL) I only know that because "Parade" is so big right now and I had a moment where I realized that JRB wrote it in his early to mid 20s. 🤯That's incredible! You'd think that show was written by someone who had lived a long life and experienced a lot of things. He was practically a kid!
I'm not from Puerto Rico but the moment when he dedicated his award to all latin people and showed his flag almost makes me cry of joy!!! Arriba los latinos !!!
Everyone ready for a repeat of this this year?

Lin is a force of nature
I BELIEVE IN TONY NOMINEE CHRIS JACKSON
"I don't know about God but I believe in Chris Jackson!" Is my new religion
I cannot deal with Lin's voice when he gets emotional like it's just too much omg
YES! USNAVI BUSTING THE BARS!
The Hat quote is from the Pulitzer Prize winning Stephen Sondheim/James Lapine musical "Sunday in the Park with George," which chronicles George Seurat and his painting "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" and is about art, artists, and the struggle of creation. In the song "Finishing the Hat," Seurat says after finishing part of the painting "look I made a hat where there never was a hat," which is a statement about the wonder and joy at making art.
So glad to see Usnavi didn't throw away his shot.
