In The Air Tonight - Phil Collins - Drum Cover by Domenic Nardone
Музыка
An epic drumming classic by Phil Collins from the album Face Value. His signature, open, powerful sound has become his trademark and this song is a testament to that. I usually use muffling rings or moon gels to muffle my drums but in this case, I took them all off to recreate Phil's huge, sound. I also cranked up the reverb in my recording software. For the beginning of the song, Phil used a Roland CR-78 drum machine. I created my own interpretation of the drum machine pattern using my second snare drum (with the snare wires disengaged). I used portions of the music video to make things more interesting up until the juicier part of the song when the drums let loose.

BEST cover version I´ve ever seen and heard. As original as it just can be and it is supposed to be. Raw and natural, just as it was meant. Terrific!

I agree. Probably the best edited performance video I've seen on KZread. That snare sound? Amazing!
Awesome job on this song. I remember when Phil could still drum he would always play this himself rather than hand the duty to Chester Thompson. You captured the mood perfectly with the sensitive, subdued drumming until that famous drum fill whereupon the drumming becomes more aggressive and angry. This is indeed the best cover I have seen....or heard.

Excellent drumming, love the use of the original, and jumping into full colour gave it oomph when it came in fully. Nice job. Very nice job.
Phil Colins is a genius, congratulations on the honor.
Sounds almost like the original mate no fancy stick spinning over playing the track like alot .Too many covers try to improve on the original very few drum covers play it as its meant to be sounds awsome just gained a sub keep it up.

Awesome. Really smart to keep the tempo with the drumstick in your right leg. I'm a beginner and it's a cool trick I picked up :D
@DomenicNardone
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Fair warning, most drummers don't like that approach because they say it looks unprofessional. You might want to think twice before you adopt that technique. I personally don't care what people think :) I use it all the time.
@aggelakas

Thank you! And thanks for the warning! I'm very familiar with the quirks of musicians so I know exactly what you mean :D but I don't care too, I mean, if it sounds right, it's alright, you know.

@@aggelakas you can also use your foot to keep the rhythm, its a sign of weakness and i personally think it looks not cool to say the least, but youre entitled to your opinion.
@aggelakas
5 жыл бұрын
@@makavelishakur986 Yup, now I'm practicing on keeping the tempo with my left foot, heel only, and opening the hat when necessary, but it's crazy hard :D Oh and I'm not a drummer, I'm a hobbyist music producer, that's why I like to gain insight on everything :)
Very good sounds just like the original.

Fuckin great man!
This is hefty... what you do is awesome. One question, please: Do I see it right that you play in the end in the air with your right hand, not hitting anything? Is it to be focused to the perfect stroke?
@DomenicNardone
2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean my right hand keeping time on my lap?
@jonasniederson5172
2 жыл бұрын
@@DomenicNardone Yes, exactly. You play on the lap. I just thought that I might be the only one using this buffer, even from the childhood :-D
Stellar performance. I especially like the fact that you're very tight following the drum machine (not always an easy task). Your kick sound is a little too "hard" and muted to my taste. Maybe it's because you let the beater rest on the drumhead (foot down) and don't let the bass drum resonate enough ? But that's only a purely personal preference, and it doesn't take anything away from an excellent job. Kudos !
Great cover, Domenic! I can hear that little snare roll sound, but I can't see how you're doing it while you're hitting one stick on your leg. It doesn't seem possible you're doing it with only the left stick and snare. Do you know which part I mean? Maybe my eyes are just too slow.
@DomenicNardone

I'm just dragging my left stick lightly across the snare and letting it bounce creating grace/ghost notes.
