    I've used these for many years since they first came out, but I have moved over to the lifeguard reactors because of their simples setup and controllability on top of keeping everything in the sump. No hoses or added worries of hoses/reactor leaking.

    Thanks Cam 😀Another informative video. Could I add ! Don’t put the valve on the out side of reactor. I did and it leaked🥹. It is perfectly fine with the adjustment valve on the in side.

    Cam, based on your experience, does a GFO reactor remove more phosphate than just having a bag of GFO in the sump, or does it just do it faster? Thanks

    any suggestion my media doesn't stay at the bottom of the reactor after 3 days it goes all the way to the top

    What’s the diameter of the 150? Want to see what sort of footprint it has to see if it can fit inside my sump or if it needs to sit outside?

    Great video! I’m interest in running the small one on my planted tank. I get upwards of 2-3 ppm out of the tap, and my aquarium water clocks in from 5ppm-10ppm. Would this work on freshwater? Would this work with seachem phosguard? Does the phosban pull out other nutrients beside po3 like a carbon media would?

    I think the reactor would work on freshwater, but with the levels you’re getting I think I’d be more inclined to start using RO water (remineralised) rather than your tap water for waterchanges. It would probably be a never ending battle trying to reduce your phosphate from that level with a reactor. Cam

    Can you do a video on the 550 reactor, everyone is doing the 150. I have an old one with missing pieces and I have been ordering the fittings so I can use it, but I want to make sure I got everything. Thanks

    I think the 2 reactors are very similar. Probably the only difference is the size and a slight difference in the intake/outlet positions. I’ll try and do a focus on the 550 in a future build, we do use them often. Cam

  • @GalleryAquaticaTV

    @GalleryAquaticaTV

    It is probably a flow issue through the reactor or there is too much media in it. Try higher flow with less media. Cam

    With a reactor you can control the flow so improving the level of phosphate taken out or left in your aquarium water, also you generally change the media only once a month - 3 months, i do like lanthium chloride to lower levels to a reasonable amount then run a reactor to maintain it in a heavier bioload aquarium or a neglected aquarium :)

    @@GalleryAquaticaTV curious to hear what issues you have with lanthanum chloride. I was toying with using it but ended up going down the GFO route because I heard of cases of fish mortality?

    Yes you can, as they seal very well. You would want to ensure that it doesn’t get knocked by pets or kids as it would cause a flood if it did. Cam
