In-Situ Testing with the Seismic Dilatometer (SDMT/SPDMT) (Numac Webinar #9)

Ғылым және технология

Numac webinar #9 - December 2022 'In-Situ Testing with the Seismic Dilatometer (SDMT/SPDMT)'
Presented by: Eng. Diego Marchetti (Director at Studio Prof. Marchetti).
This webinar focused on the application of the seismic dilatometer (SDMT/SPDMT) to incorporate shear wave velocity and compression wave velocity in geotechnical and tailings investigations.
The SDMT and SPDMT modules can be used to calculate shear and compression wave velocity profiles while advancing CPT or DMT tooling into the ground.
Numac / Legion Drilling provides specialised site investigation and remediation services across Australia. These services include sonic, geotechnical and environmental drilling, in-situ testing, direct sensing logging for high-resolution site characterisation (HRSC), and in-situ remediation of contaminated land and groundwater.

How is the soil density obtained during the test

As contractors, we do not endorse any particular method to derive soil density (or other parameters), but you can find some commonly used formulas in Professor Paul W. Mayne's works. Another option would be to use DMT readings as an additional line of evidence complementing the Vs measurements.

Can't the calculation of the Vp wave be done using the true interval method?

Hi Sergio, I will ask Jonas to respond to you. He doesn't get the notifications here.

@@fourfunkybass Sorry I missed this one. Using the true interval method for Vp is challenging due to the high velocity of p-waves, but it isn't unfeasible. This option is not implemented in the current version of SDMTPro, but hopefully we will see it incorporated in the future. Thanks, Jonas
