    He cultivates the talent instead of exploiting it. I met a talented young lady last week who was crippled by a hardass coach and incompetent surgeon and now she is doing paraolympics. Tragic yet inspiring all at once.

    It is so true. I used to cram big football sessions with my son until he was exhausted. Now we do 10 to 15 minutes after school and he gives it his all. Not only is it less stressful, but he wants it more knowing the time is limited. He never doesn't want to train with me now. It's just more fun when you eradicate tiredness. Thankyou coach

    My daughter’s track coach has them practicing 5 times a week. If they have a meet, the next day they are practicing again. Its brutal. 20 kids are out with splints or other injuries. He changes nothing. Its sad.

    Would me going to the gym after a x factor+speed day be overworking? Or would it be better on the off days? Im a rugby player so I need to hit the weights.

    do gym after sprints on sprint days. They are different enough that you can do them on the same day. 3 hours rest is best but you can do the gym immediately after. i do this for masters athletics. my gym work is mainly hypertrophy and injury prevention. Keep your hard days hard and your easy days easy.

    We all have differing "points of diminishing returns". Our bodies respond to stress differently. Two athletes can do the same workout, one is sore the next day, one feels great. My point is to err on the side of less.

    Is sprinting 6-8 150m on the track considered to be a lactate workout

  • @coachtonyholler

    @coachtonyholler

    2 жыл бұрын

    Only if lactate is produced. If you “run” 8 150s at 800 race pace, you will be working on lactate “threshold”. You must SPRINT each 150 at 400 race pace or faster activate glycolysis, produce lactate, and suffer through the acidosis. Therefore, IMO 6-8 is TOO MANY REPS.

    @GODSPEED-hl6pd

    Thank you I wish my coach was like you. Also based off of what you said how many “runs” would be optimal. The goal of the “runs” is to improve speed endurance. So should I do 5, 4, or how many if I’m running faster then a 400m pace.

    If im sprinting 3x a week how many of them should be Max V? I use a freelap to do 30m flys, but i also want to improve my 60fly, my second 30m split is too slow imo. Is doing 60m fly too much? Or should i do those on speed endurance days?

  • @coachtonyholler

    @coachtonyholler

    FB should not be harder than the GAME of football in order to protect speed and athleticism. Practice should not be 3 hours with constant movement with devastating conditioning tacked onto the end. Football practice SHOULD be hard in terms of the level of performance… high speed instead of just high effort. Blocking and tackling should be intense. Perfecting execution is HARD.
