This was beautiful. I have been watching Bonanza reruns and was quite taken with him. I read up on him and found that he had marched with the black Americans from Selma to Montgomery. Made me love him more. He advocated for the TV and movie industry to hire politically correct actors. XXXOOO

EXCELENTE VIDEO, RECIEN HE PODIDO VERLO Y NO FUERON NECESARIAS VOCES EN EL CORTO, LAS SOLAS IMAGENES NARRAN SU CARRERA Y LLENAN DE NOSTALGIA. PERNELL ERA MI FAVORITO EN LA SERIE BONANZA, QUIZA POR SU SERIEDAD, SU MADUREZ, SU MANERA DE ACTUAR, DE DECIR LAS COSAS ... O TODO AQUELLO JUNTO TAL VEZ. BUEN ACTOR, LAMENTABLEMENTE PUSO MUCHAS TRABAS Y CONDICIONES PARA CONTINUAR EN LA SERIE Y LOS PRODUCTORES, CEDIENDO MUCHAS VECES A SUS PETICIONES, FINALMENTE LO DEJARON IR. Y PARA MI, AHI TERMINO BONANZA. LOS PRODUCTORES ESPERARON LARGO TIEMPO SU REGRESO, PERO SU REGRESO NUNCA SE DIO. ADAM SE SEPARO DE LA FAMILIA CARTWRIGHT Y SUS SEGUIDORES VIVIERON CON LA ESPERANZA QUE REGRESARA A LA PONDEROSA, PERO EL RANCHO YA NO VOLVERIA A SER EL MISMO. HOY TODOS ELLOS MURIERON, PERO NOS DEJARON SEIS TEMPORADAS DONDE SE LES VE A TODOS JUNTOS, UNIDOS EN BONANZA Y FELICES EN LA PONDEROSA. UNA PLEGARIA POR ELLOS.

I am a peer of this man and watched him on Bonanza..I thought him a little too impressed with himself in his Role as older brother, but always gave him credit for his acting ability.. But really missed him on the Series when he abruptly disappeared from the show..It was put forth , he was a difficult actor and DEMANDED extra ordinary billing etc.. believed it in those days..did not believe a actor could be a BAD guy.... it devastated his career in the main stream...I am pleased to see he vindicated himself and career..HE WAS A TRULY GREAT ACTOR AND RUINED BY THE STUDIOS.. IN THE LONG RUN, HE WON...but a sad way to have to stand up for yourself against such BIG MONEY AND DISHONESTY... HOPE OTHERS KNOW HIS STORY ...R.I.P.

I miss my friend Pernell. My youngest son carries his sir name as a middle name. He and I reminisced about his acting career, life, son, and all, including Eleanor. He always reflected on his time on Bonanza as a time of unrest, unfairness , and disrespect to Native and Chinese Americans. He regaled me as to how his costume became a good guy in all black and treated me, a non celebrity, as an equal. He mentioned how Trapper John was a blessing. I saw his home and he saw mine. I miss him dearly. He was an icon, an actor, and an advocate and he liked me, a no one. It is fair to say I miss him more than most. You are not forgotten my friend and I miss you sir. Love Steve......

I'm surprised he was that old...only a year younger than my mother! So by '59 when Bonanza came on the ol' B&W TV, he was already 31. Wow...and now, at the twilight of my long journey, I'm left wondering how much time I have left?

I watched Bonanza from day 1 when I was 10 years-old in 1959. Never knew Pernell served in the Marine Corps.

He was a very underrated actor, I had no idea Bonanza started in 1959. always thought of it as a 60s 70s TV series.

I hated Bonanza almost as much as Parnell Roberts did. The infantile plots, the cliched characters, the drably written 'Adam' after six years it was ENOUGH. Tens of millions of Americans watched this show every week religiously and yet they filmed it on the TACKIEST indoor phony sets with a little campfire, a fake tree or two and painted walls. It was pathetic.

..And it isn't like they weren't making a fortune...they should have spruced-up the sets and brought some better writers in at least.
