I watch the national news with Lester Holt every night and they made no mention of Gordon Lightfoot's death. I was very disappointed. But Tina Turner got a 6 minute tribute on that same news network when she died. I sincerely hope that every anniversary of the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald, on November 10th, that the church rings the bell 30 times from this year forward in honor of his fantastic song honoring the crew of the mighty Fitz.

RIP Gordon! My father despite all his faults, taught me a lot about our beloved Michigan, our heritage, music, and history. I remember on one of our camping trips in the U.P. when I was probably 6 years old, He told me the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald with actual pain in his voice..then he played the song by Gordon Lightfoot for me. That's a core memory of mine lol

Miss you Gord. You got to me like nobody before. But you already know that. In my opinion you are the best thing that Canada has ever had the privilege to produce. Your contribution to Canadian music, folk music, and storytelling cannot be equaled. In Canada right now, you make me the proudest to be Canadian. Because of you, I can be proud of one thing.

Agree. You can go up the Lighthouse if you have closed toe shoes too and I'm afraid of heights and still enjoyed it. If you're from further south though I have to point out it's very windy there and bring a good jacket no matter how warm you think it will be.

Wow... What a fitting goodbye to one of the all time great storytellers! You were an important part of my life. One of my favourite musicians. I saw you in Buffalo Ny at Sheas Theatre. A very important person in my life surprised me with tickets to your show. We were 5th row, Center, in the floor seating. She remembered that once I said that most would want to be in the front row. I mentioned that the 5th row is where to be. Your not staring straight up at the band. It was my Birthday and it couldn't have been a better, more memorable experience. It was a surreal moment in my life. You sang Edmond Fitzgerald and I will never forget it till my own passing. RIP Gordon Thanks for all the great memories
